When the police do a Domestic Violence call on my neighbor, they are careful to park where he cannot see their cars from his house. As a matter of safety, for both the police and the victim inside, they would prefer the violent person is not aware of their presence, until they knock on the door.
Other times, they have paperwork to complete after finishing a call, or simply need a place to park and gain information for their next call.
Law abiding citizens should feel relieved by their presence, rather than fearful.
In that situation, you have the option of calling 911 and asking if you need to be concerned......maybe a burglar in the neighborhood, etc.

Sometimes they do that if they saw someone stalking your property. That happened when I lived in the country. They parked at the end of the driveway for quite a while and did eventually come and tell us that we should beware because a known ex con was checking out our property.

Perhaps they pulled into the wrong drive and walked a few houses over....perhaps they pulled into the wrong driveway on purpose, so criminals could be caught in the act.
I had a police car at the end of my driveway once. It made me nervous. I finally walked down there and the policewoman was having car trouble. She had just pulled off the road and was awaiting aid. I made her some hot chocolate until the tow truck got there.

Probably watching for something or somebody. Cops cannot enter your house without a search order or if they have a good reason to believe that somebody is in danger, but they can enter your driveway.
Probably nothing special, no big deal.
Yes, you can call your police station and ask if there's anything you should know or worry.

If it was potentially a big deal regarding you, then they'll be back, but until then, don't worry about it, it's probably nothing. If they do come back, just tell them the truth and cooperate so you don't end up getting a beat down. Keep a video camera ready just in case. If you do get a beat down anyway, videotape it and put it on you tube to get the people on your side and start a revolution. Don't worry though, it's probably nothing =)

If you live in a neighborhood, maybe they got a call about a suspicious person nearby and didnt wanna make it obvious so the just parked in your driveway. or maybe they just wanted to throw eggs at your front door but didn't since they realized you noticed them.

They could've had the wrong house maybe? If you haven't done anything wrong, then don't worry about it. They could've came to ask you if you've seen someone around where you live or if you know anything that's going on with a certain situation. If they dont come back...im glad for you...if they do...then you should worry. Til then...you're cuff free and have nada to worry bout.

They might have been spying on you. Or they could have been sent by the aliens and Elvis to ask you about your involvement in global warming.
No really, they probably had reason to suspect you of a crime, possibly from a witness. If you follow the law and respect them, you will be fine. As long as they didn't knock on your door, you have nothing to worry about. You have nothing to be afraid of as long as you aren't a mass murderer.

maybe they were just getting off the road to fill out a report or to talk with dispatch & it had nothing to do with you. Once a cop came for a noise ordinance complaint, but we weren't making any noise...he was at the right house number...wrong street. Maybe yours was smarter & just called dispatch to verify address before knocking.
