i have taken her to obedience school, she goes out for long periods of time and we play fetch and she runs around like a maniac and still never wants to stop. I honestly belive it is impossible to tire her out, but I love her. When company comes over she is overbearing and overly excited and just to say "hi" she plows her chest into you, if your not fairly strong this 100 pound oger will knock you on your butt. lol how do i stop this?

Labs tend to have a high play drive. What you need to do is have some type of regular exercise for your dog. If you jog, labs make a good running partner. Or get a ball thrower there are several different kinds that allow you to hurl a ball several yards that way you go to a park and your dog does all the work. They love it and it will calm the lab down around the house. Obedience training helps also.

Labs just like many dogs don't "calm down" until after 3 years old, they stay puppies for a while. But make sure she is getting enough exercise, at least an hour every day , rain or shine. Give her mental exercises as well such a obedience training, agility, etc. If after you exhaust these options, see if the vet thinks her energy is abnormal and needs meds to help even her out.

Set aside some time each day for play (30 minutes to an hour at the very least). Take your dog for long walks, or play fetch during this time, or tug-of-war, anything to make certain that your dog stays active. This will help her to get rid of the excess energy, and then she will be calm at other times.

Labs are pretty crazy, though some strains are calmer than others. Is she getting enough exercise? Labs need lots. She will calm down as she gets older. Don't let anyone tell you that if she has pups this may help - she will be calmer while she is pregnant then revert to madness afterwards and you may have a litter of pups that no-one wants.

Do it the Cesar Millan way

1. Exercise(at least 45-minute walk/run a day
a)do you have a bike? go bike riding and have your dog run along side you. You can go skateboarding too with it.
b) go to the lake OR get a swimming pool and have your dog swim in it(they're natural swimmers)

2. Discipline(that doesn't mean punishment)
3. Affection

Good luck!

Labs are known for being very hyper, playful, full of energy, etc. They need lots of attention everyday. You need to take some time out of everyday to play with your dog. You can also possibly get another dog for a play mate or you can think about getting her fixed which sometimes helps.

I have a shih -tzu and she is very hyper at certain periods of the day like morning and night. So I started walking her in the park to calm her down and then i let her sit in her bed while I'm working until she falls asleep.
