An unidentified surface contact is called a Skunk and an air contact is a Bogey. What is an unidentified Submarine contact called?

Goblin was what we called them in the 60's & 70's.

A skunk that dissappeared and coordinated with a submarine contact was a Sinker.

Oddly enough I heard them called "contacts"

depends on the system and the ship that detects it, on subs they would be named either, "master 1,2 etc" or Sierra, 1,2,3, etc if detected on SONAR. (master is used for targets with high interests)
