I have always recommended that you put it in little tiny drops down the back. I have found that if you put it in ONE LARGE SPOT on the cat anywhere it will drive them crazy and they will find a way to lick it off. Like you said with his paw and then to his mouth. I have found that with cats like this they don't seem to mind tiny tiny little drops down the back as much.

I know before everyone freaks out and repeats the directions on the package that I have tested this on thousands of cats at my cat only boarding facility and it works great. People forget that cats are very creative and they will find a way to lick it no matter were you put it, Cats are built to be able to reach every inch of their body that is how they stay so clean, Unless you have a real fat out of shape cat.
so why not try to put it on in a manner that tends to not irritate them as much and maybe it will go unnoticed.

You put it on where you would pick up the cat if you are going to take the cat by the scruff of the neck. And you would not spread it around you leave it in one place and just place it there. The cat will not be able to lick it off.

The place you are supposed to put it in is a place cats are not able to reach. It should be on the back of his head. It should be right between his shoulder blades.

advantage is not the best find to buy its front line plus in the back of the neck by the soulder blades it last one month and goes into the skin and blood and it fights all the stuff you need. i have never heard of cat getting rid of it but that is stuf fis sold by vet and not too good. does not get rid of fleas to much its for paragiste and stuff like that.
