I can understand you not wanting to look like trailer-trash; if you're young, your eyes might be changing pretty quickly, so you mom might not want to spend a fortune on glasses that might not be correct after 6 months or a year. If you want to get some really decadent, expensive, designer frames, maybe your mother will go for it, if you promise to re-use those frames for the next lenses you need. Maybe you could save up some of your own money to make up at least part of the price difference?

Glasses are glasses. As long as they look good on you, it doesn't matter WHAT brand they are, or where you bought them. The best-looking pair of frames I ever wore was a pair by Nicole Miller purchased at Target Optical for $120. No one is going to look at your glasses and say, "Gee, those are Gucci!" They will look at your face and say, "Wow, what beautiful eyes!" They have many name-brands (none of which I can remember), and many styles. It's a good place to get glasses.

My friend gets her eye glasses from Wal-mart and she claims that they have many of the same lower to mid-range brands; however, you won't find luxury brands like Gucci, Coach, and whatnot at Wal-mart. Go to www.walmart.com to get an idea of what brands they have.
P.S. They do have an eye doctor who gives exams at most Wal-marts.

The pair of glasses I got from Wal-Mart were awful.
They were not fitted to my face correctly. And they were covered with some sort of anti-glare coating that warped and rendered the glasses useless.

Walmart has a fair selection. Not as large as Lenscrafters. The difference can be several hundred dollars. Before you start whining that the Walmart glasses aren't going to be good enough, stop and think. Every mom wants the best for their children. The question is what can your mom afford. Please don't make your mom feel guilty.

Yes they have name brands, and they're a LOT cheaper than other places. They might not have as huge a selection of name brands, but they have them.
And don't be so finicky about eyeglasses, dear. They serve the purpose and even non-name brands can look nice.
