No, it's how you remove it that causes the wrinkles.
If you rub and drag your eyes when removing makeup that will damage the skin as the skin is incredibly delicate.
You can invest in a good eyemakeup remover and use it very gently around your eyes and try not to drag the skin.
I personally use a damp cotton wool ball or pad with Johnson & Johnson's baby oil on top. I hold it againest my eye for 10 - 15 seconds giving the eye makeup enough time to disolve, and then gently wipe away. May have to this twice but J&J is cheaper than any eye makeup remover I know, last longers and is much kinder the the skin. Then wash your face with soap and water after to get rid of the oil, and mositerise.

I don't know how old you are but unfortunately for us humans our skin looses it's elasticity due to ageing. The most noticeable areas of ageing are the eyes, neck and hands. I'm 35 and not looking too bad. I haven't worn eye make-up every day but I've piled on loads of eye make-up on weekends. All I can recommend is that you buy a decent eye make-up remover, baby oil is the best I find. Gently and lightly massage make-up off - don't drag the delicate skin around your eyes as it's a tenth thinner than the rest of your face. U can use an eye cream or gel, but use sparingly - dot around the socket, it will soak into your eye area, gently dab socket with your ring fingers.

Wrinkles are caused by pollutants, such as cigarettes, smog, etc. ALSO, the biggest source for wrinkles is the Sun. Therefore, you must always, ALWAYS, wear sunscreen (at least 30spf) on your face or you will get wrinkles. Also, do not forget to use moisturizer that is made especially for the around the eye area, or you will also be subject to wrinkles. Although I am only 28, this is of great concern to me also. I wear eyeliner every day, however, that does not cause wrinkles. Neither does eye-shadow. It is the sun, and outside pollutants which would age your skin.

Not at all. My mother has worn eye make up since she was 14. She's now 52, still wears it everyday and there is barely a wrinkle around them - living proof that it doesn't cause early aging at all! In fact, make up protects the skin and protects against early aging!
The only thing that would cause wrinkles is the way you apply it and take it off. Some people pull at the skin around their eye which is very delicate and cannot be repaired - you have to leave the skin alone and very carefully apply the eyeliner straight on. Also, when taking make up off, some people are ruthless with their eyes, rubbing it vigourously. The trick is to use very good eye make up remover, not just cleanser, and carefully wipe it in one direction over the eye until every trace is gone.
So it's not the eyeliner itself at all, its in the applying at removing that causes wrinkles. Hope that's cleared things up.

sorry to say so, peaches, you're not totally right.
it is right, that today's make up, especially the good brands, do not harm your skin. but the main thing about preventing your skin from ageing is a healthy lifestyle (healthy food and drinking much) and taking good care of your skin - always get the make up down before sleeping, use a moisturiser, perhaps even a cream for the eyes.
and you should be careful when applying the products - the skin around the eyes don't like being torn, that leaves wrinkles.
one reason for the way your skin ages is genetics - if your mom has no problems, you're chance of having little probs is big.
my mom has used make up for 30 years, and she dares not going without. on the other hand - I have been using make up the last 15 years, and my skin is still perfectly okay.

Hi there,
I'm 44 and have never worn a lot of eye makeup; I also look a lot younger than a lot of my friends. Bottom line is, anything you do that involves the delicate skin around your eyes can cause it to sag . There are so many factors, though; heredity; how gently you remove your eye makeup; also, too much makeup actually junks up your skin and takes away from your beauty. Enhance what you have , don't just pile on layers of eye makeup. For removing eye makeup, Albolene is great. When you are young, your skin has more elasticity; as you age it lessens; so if you start with good habits now; it will help you as you age. Clean, moisturize, exfoliate, use sunscreen and apply makeup with a light touch.

No. It does not make wrinkles. Actually the makeup around the eyes protects it from sun (and sunlight will cause wrinkles after 10 or more years) and prevents wrinkles. People who wear makeup get less wrinkles than people who do not wear makeup.

No- eyeliner is specially formulated to be put on eyelids. As long as eye makeup is removed each night- with a special, mild eye makeup remover and a soft cotton ball- it shouldn't cause premature aging or wrinkles. Bonus tip: my mom swears by Vaseline for a beauty tool. She puts some on and under her eyes every night, and she doesn't have any of those annoying wrinkles that lots of older women have.

LOL!!! No, don't you worry my dear, you put all the eye liner you want on, it wont make you get wrinkles.
What might cause more wrinkles would be taking the eye liner off... If you are rubbing the sensitive eye area really hard with a makeup wipe, then that MAY help towards wrinkles... my advice, GENTLY wash your makeup off with a cleanser at the sink... I use simple foaming facial wash, nice and gentle on the eyes!
