The LDS culture maintains that it's members should try to be clean in appearance and reverent in the manner in which they perform their solemn and sacred responsibilities, with dignity, quietly and reverently.
They also view the body as a temple of God and it is recommended that it be treated as one as well.
Truth is, we're like anybody else. We get dirty, we make mistakes, etc. but thanks for the compliment.

I presume you mean morally clean - everyone here seems to be talking about taking lots of showers.
We believe that when we commit to follow Jesus it means, among other things, to live as He would have us live. We also want to be worthy to have the Holy Spirit with us to guide us all the time. For this reason we shun all things we consider to be morally unclean - pornography, drugs, alcohol, swearing, etc. Our thirteenth Article of Faith says that we believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent and doing good to all men. We dress modestly so as not to flaunt our bodies, and we live the law of chastity - no sex outside marriage.
When we meet together to worship God we dress in our best clothes to show respect for Him, and our missionaries, who represent Him before the world, dress in their best at all times when they are about His business.
I wish mainstream Christianity was more like the Mormons too. I used to be an evangelical Christian but there is so much hypocrisy out there. A church my friend goes to has couples in the congregation who are living in sin, and the pastor doesn't say anything to them! How can they sit there, week after week, claiming to follow Jesus, and yet be so morally degraded and yet unrepentent? If it hadn't been like that I don't know that I would have remained as an evangelical, but it's possible. And it is so much easier being a mainstream Christian than it is being a Mormon Christian!

Just cos they wear suits doesn`t mean they are clean. Surely your beliefs have nothing to do with how often you take a shower and wash your hair. I have like millions of other folk got friends and aquaintances from all religious groups. You are either fastidious or not nowt to do with being a mormon. Are they the people who don`t drink tea or coffee?

Because we wanna keep the Holy Spirit with us and we want God to be with us and God and the Holy Spirit are only in clean places. And, our body is our temple so we have to take care of it and keep it clean ^_^

You haven't compared my house with my Methodist mom's house, or even my VERY Baptist sister in law's house.
