Because they are sad individuals who don't believe in sharing info and contributing to benefit anyone but themselves.
Yes they get the points, so what. Points are just numbers. The satisfaction is in giving someone a useful answer and it being acknowledged by the asker as the best (not for the points) but because its helping and recognized as useful.

Some people "play" Yahoo answers just to get the points. And sometimes this behavior goes unreported by people who are afraid of being labeled "trolls." I tend to just ignore it most of the time and go on, with maybe a thumbs down, so that way I don't have to look at it. Miserable waste of time, if you ask me.

To get points or get a laugh by annoying others. The funny thing is that the points really mean nothing. It's not like you get a prize...

To be honest I haven't seen this, maybe answers should be monitored by Yahoo and if they are complete gobbeldigook they should be stopped, banned or have 20 points deducted, that would be a good idea wouldn't it?

More interested in getting the points than learning or teaching something, I suppose. I don't get it myself, it's not like you're getting a real prize at the end of it, is it?
