I’m not sure. I didn’t think it was that great, to be honest. It was certainly not one of his best. A lot of the time it felt like the plot was just there to link together the diatribes of the mysterious “Kenner” character.
One of the best quotes from the book was the one at the beginning by Mark Twain:
“There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.”
How true is *that* in the AGW debate?
While we’re on the subject of Michael Crichton, I highly recommend some of his speeches…
“Complexity Theory and Environmental Management”
http://www.crichton-official.com/speech-complexity.html
“Aliens Cause Global Warming”
http://www.crichton-official.com/speech-alienscauseglobalwarming.html
“The Case for Skepticism on Global Warming”
http://www.crichton-official.com/speech-ourenvironmentalfuture.html
If you can read through that lot and not end up with a healthy scepticism regarding AGW, then your faith must be truly unshakable.

I have to read the book, first...
But, from what I know of the book and its "reception" by the global warming faithful...
...the "making of" documentary might be the REAL ticket. Just imagine the minute that anybody is cast, the black-balling and backstabbing of Hollywood legend...filming "State of Fear in Glittertown would be like filming "Schindler's List" in Tehran. Or the movie version of Rushdie's "Satanic Verses".
Here's a similar look:

Absolutely! As a work of fiction, it deserves making into a film just as much as the propaganda made by Al Gore or Michael Moore, and would probably be more entertaining! And a hell of lot more believable, besides!

Probably not, the book is always better. They leave out too much when they make books into movies.

Yes, only if Ed Begley Jr. plays Ted Bradley. I want to see him getting devoured...: ( j/k.
I would rather see "Next" with the talking humanzee.

not realy. his last two books , including this one, have been more like a bunch of info packed into a small story. it would be better as like a documentery or something.

Why not? It's probably a pretty decent book, regardless of its factual inaccuracies.
