Yes Because I lost my grandfather last year and i know you sitting there like why does that matter to you but it was a tragedy for me because he went out fishing and never returned because he'd drowned but however i just wanted to say when my bestfriend showed up at the wake and funeral it made me feel very good even though she didnt know him I felt supported and very much better wit her shoulder to cry on. I think you should go for Love Respect & Support

It is perfectly acceptable to support your friend in this manner. Let's face it, funerals are for the living, to help them through a difficult period. I would ask your friend, though, whether non-family members are welcome. Some families prefer to limit wakes/funerals to family members only. The latter may be followed by a memorial service at a later date, with general attendance. If your friend would prefer you not to attend, do not be offended. Rites of passage of any kind are highly sensitive situations.

Wakes and Funerals are not only to honor the dead, but also to lend support to those left behind. If it means something to your best friend to have you there, it is totally acceptable.

Sure- going to a wake or memorial service is really more to show your support for the living relatives of the departed. You are going to show your friend you're there for him/her in his/her time of sorrow.

Yeah, I think so, your friend needs you and I think she'd really appreciate you being there. When my grandma died, all of my cousins friends turned up, and it was fine.
