Get a job in the shipyards, like everyone else in the Navy that was kicked out on a drug charge. You'll make more money and feel like more of a real seaman anyway. One door closes, another window opens.
Also, "because your roommates smoked weed" ? Come on, man. I've known a lot of damn fine, honorable sailors that were kicked out on drug charges, and every one was a terrible loss. Up to their last day at work, they gave it their all and acted just like they weren't getting discharged.
One thing you would have learned in the fleet, if you had lasted longer, is that you get a lot more respect when you own up to your screwups, deal with the consequences, and move on with your life. None of the guys I looked up to that were kicked out on drug charges tried to sugar coat what happened. They snorted coke and smoked pot, passed a couple piss tests, and then forgot to take their niacin pills one time, and it was a wrap for them. And that's exactly how they would tell it.
Also, just so one more person's saying it, I've been to Captain's Mast myself. And I served my restriction, served out my term, got my **** together, made petty officer, and got out honorably. I've also had friends that were in the brig, that were kept in.
Unless you got an administrative seperation because your command just wanted you gone as quickly as they could get rid of you, you didn't go to mast. You were court marshalled. And if you were adminsepped, they gave a reason why, and its in your records.
You're not going to be a Sailor. But it's good that you want to do something with your life, and for the Navy. Maybe you can let this be your wake-up call and let it motivate you to do something worthwhile with your life.
Good luck to you.

You can try with an application to the Board For Correction of Naval Records. But, you will need a lot of evidence to show that the Navy erred in awarding you that discharge. However, unless it was awarded as part of a sentence from a General Court Martial, I don't understand how it can be a Dishonorable Discharge. It is more probable that the discharge was an Undesirable Discharge, or a General Discharge under less than honorable conditions, unless you were convicted by a Special Court Martial wich can award a Bad Conduct Discharge.
Using Senatorial influence won't work. The only way that Senator can get it done is with a Special Bill of Relief. And I don't think the esteemed Senator wants to risk his colleagues' wrath for doing something like that.

You didn't get kicked out with a dishonorable discharge unless you were court-martialled, and from what you said that didn't happen. You were probably administratively discharged with a characterization of general under honorable conditions. Don't know how that works in the Navy, but in the Air Force if you are administratively separated for any kind of misconduct you're gone forever. Your best bet is to call a Navy recruiter and see what he/she has to say. If the final word is "Sorry, but no" not even your father's Senator friend will be able to get you in.

First thing, even if you do not go back in is to do something about that dishonorable discharge. Talk to a lawyer. In some cases it can be upgraded to a general discharge. With that you might be able to get into the Army (Navy is downsizing.)
However, if the dishonorable sticks, forget going back in. NO ONE will take you. A dishonorable discharge is as bad as you can get. They will not investigate, they will just say no.

If you did not get court-martialed then you did not get a dishonorable discharge though you may have gotten an other than honorable discharge. I think the chances are unlikely that you can reenlist, but you should go and talk with a Navy recruiter. He can tell you if, and under what circumstances, you would be eligible to rejoin.

Your Father could be God's golf buddy for all the good it will do, you're done. There's no coming back from Dishonorable Discharge. BTW, nobody gets a DD because of something his roommates did, they must have nailed you with something pretty big to nuke you with a DD.
Perhaps you can appeal the discharge and get it upgraded, but you'ld have to come up with a much better story than the one you're slinging here....
