Everyone in my circle of friends has noticed it. Nobody ever sees her eat anymore (one of my friends is her roommate, and she confirms that the girl doesn't really eat). She has admitted to chewing cookies and spitting them out, she takes laxatives, and on the rare occasions that she does have meals with us and orders more than water with lemon (normally it's something like 1/2 a roll of veggie sushi and nothing else) she immediately excuses herself to go to the ladies' room and stays in there forever. The thing is, at this point she's still at the low end of normal weight, so she skates by under the radar, but she's getting smaller. Anytime anyone even approaches it she glazes over it by assuming jealousy (none of us are overweight, by the way). We're all frustrated. Help.

Unless one of you is a trained professional you will be unlikely to do anything to help her in the long run. If anything you may force her further "underground". Please see if you can get her to talk to a non-threatening "adult"- not sure of the age group for your friend. For instance if you guys are college then your resident assistant is a decent place to start.

KEY---- You must make it her idea and get her to seek them. If they come to her ( a good one won't) she will feel betrayed and you will have added that to her problem. Best of luck my prayers are with you.

Maybe thats the problem , maybe she feels the need to fit in under some duress of friends or outside influences.

If you can find her a counselor, get all your friends together and voice your concerns. Sort of like an intervention. Even if you can't get a counselor still get your friends together. Tell her how worried you all are.
