Every camera is different. Lots of times they kind of twist off. You have to push in and twist anticlockwise-left, and the lens will come off. If it doesn't want to come off that way, just get your teacher to show you again. You don't want to break anything!

All cameras are different. Here are a list of the ones with which I'm familiar

Canon FD: Either turn the silver ring at the base of the lens counter-clockwise, or press the silver button on the base of the lens and turn the whole lens counter-clockwise.

Canon EOS, Pentax, Minolta(Sony) AF mount-Push the big button at the base of the lens mount, and turn the whole lens counter clockwise. Minolta MC/MD and Konica are the same, except that the button is usually located more toward the top of the camera.

Nikon-Push the button at the base of the lens mount, and turn the whole lens clockwise.

There is a release button usually at 3 or 9 o'clock where the lens connect to the body. It is usually a quick mount (bayonet) and 1/4 turn counter clock wise will releasethe lens.

Louis F is correct. But if you're not sure, you can just look at whichever larger button is next to the lens. Push the button and rotate the lens counter clockwise. If you push the right button, the lens will rotate.

Looking right at the lens, there should be a button on the lower half of the right hand side. Press that and at the same time, twist the lens clockwise. It should come right off.

If all else fails, read the Owner's Manual. If you don't have it you can probably download it or buy one on ebay.
