Occasionally we let them stay up a little longer but they still wake up at 6.30 every morning so i'm glad there in bed early.

I've got 2 little girls aged 6 yrs and 3yrs, the 3yr old goes at 6.30 - 7 pm always she's real shattered by then, and 6 yr old goes about 8 give or take 15 mins before/after 8 on school night without tv on .At weekends /hols she can have tv on if she goes to bed before 9, but if she choose's to stay up a bit later then no tv when she goes to bed.Its hard to say really what time is best you know you own children best so what ever works for your family.

Well I have a brother and two sisters and when we were all that age we didn't have to go to bed that early. But like most of the responses we didn't go to bed at 9 either. I would say like 7:40 for the two year old and like 8:20 for the four year old.

Hi,

I have no kids of my own - I had a missed miscarriage in 2004 at 18 weeks - boy Matthew.

I do babysit by nephews a lot and the two youngest who are 6 and 4 have a bath at 7 and in bed for 7.30.

The oldest two of 10 and 8 go to bed at 8.30.

Lx

They may have odd days in holiday where they can stay up a little later but strict on making sure they stick to routine.

My son is 7 and my daughter is 3 and they both go to bed at 8 pm. Durring the summer break I let them stay up as late as they want to really, and usually they are up in bed by 10 sound asleep. On the weekends we let them stay up until 9 or 9:30. My son is up early every moring. He's up by 6:30 watching cartoons, and he gets up on his own. My daughter on the other hand will usually sleep until like 7 am.

My 3 year old is a very early riser so in the summer he goes to bed at 7:30 b/c he gets up when the sun comes up (around 6). In the winter he can stay up a little later b/c the sun doesn't come up so early and he'll sleep in a little.

My 15 mo. old also goes to bed at 7:30 and he sleeps about 12 hours.

Many years ago my kids went to bed at around 8pm with lights out at 8:30 pm ,sometimes it was earlier sometimes later (summer). My eldest boy loved and needed lots of sleep , the youngest girl fought sleeping and required less.
There is no set time for children of any age to go to bed. It depends on the child and what they're body is telling them. If they are ready for bed at 7pm and sleep through the night and get up at a reasonable time, then your time is great.
If however they are in bed at 7pm but they usually spend hours talking up a storm, then that time is perhaps a bit early. A 30 min down time is acceptable but any longer then that means that it's too early and they are not tired.

My 2 year old goes to bed at 7 or 7:30, Sometimes my 4 year old goes to bed at the same time. Sometimes we let him stay up a little later. Mommy and Daddy HAVE to have our own time at night. You are doing a fine job. We all need a little adult time at the end of the day! And you know your children are getting enough sleep. Keep up the good work.
