Quite apart from the fact that "bless you" is simply a conventional trope in response to a sneeze, a blessing in itself does not imply any religious or supernatural connotations. Furthermore, being offended is an infantile reaction to any problem. If something offends you, it's more to do with you than anything else.

I'm not an atheist, but it's still stupid to say "Bless you" when someone sneezes. (If you're reading this, and you can even consider it a possibility that someone could sneeze out their soul, please call a licensed psychiatrist RIGHT NOW!) If someone says it to me, I just ignore them. If someone else sneezes, I say "You're SOOO good looking!" 'Cause Jerry Seinfeld was right, you should say something that actually makes 'em feel better. (And makes some sense!) :)

I say thank you. I may not believe in God, but I can recognize and reciprocate courtesy and consideration. That's all the "bless you" thing is all about. When someone else sneezes, I usually show my courtesy and consideration by offering them a tissue.

Why should any one be offended? It is kind of funny! Do you know why we say Bless You? People thought that evil spirits left your body when you sneezed! All an Atheist has to say to a Christian when they try to convert them is "No thanks, I had my sneeze today!"

i am invoking God's protection against evil spirits that enter a sneezer's nasal cavities when I "Bless You" to someone, so y'all best recognize.
no seriously, it's more an acknowledgment that I feel your sneeze distress. I've quit saying it, though.. some people say thanks and others are awkward about it so I've just decided to let it go.

No. Buddhists greet me with Namaste, Wiccans say Blessed Be. They are showing me respect based on their frame of reference, and I appreciate that regardless of the source.

No, because "bless you" is has been accepted as being polite. I say "bless you" when people sneeze. It's like "oh my god", "god damnit" or "that's a sin".

Doesn't offend me. I even say that to others, out of habit. I think it's more of a cultural thing nowadays rather than a religious thing.
