Has anyone else been laid off and having a serious problem finding a new job??? It's been almost 3 weeks for me, I apply for 10 jobs a day at least! I was an Escrow Assistant and I use to be in sales.. I don't understand why people advertise for jobs and don't seem to call you back. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sorry to hear you are laid off. I am hearing rumbles that I may join you in that boat! UGH! I know that applying is not enough. You need to dig, find a contact person, call, follow-up, appear in the doorway asking for more information about the company, network, network, network. Being in this group is a good start.

I also found out that my resume was useless. It contained too much professional jargon that prospective employers in another field could not decifer...so in the trash I went. Make sure yours is written as "What you did, the situation precipitating your action, and the result of your efforts" for all of the cool things you have done.

Good luck. Keep an adult beverage handy.

I haven't been in your position, but I have a suggestion. I have noticed that often when people say they cannot find a job, what they mean is, they cant find a job in the same field.

Dont limit yourself to looking for work in the same industry from which you were laid off. Think about what skills you have and what other careers could be open to you.

Treat your job search like a full time job in andof itself.
