the bible says, "when you pray to your father in heaven, go NOT ,to the synogogues and priests, where the hyppocrites go, but when you pray, go hide in a closet and close the door, and pray where no one can see you,.!!"

Personally, it think anywhere can be "church". I pray when I want to, where I want to. On my own terms. If I am doing it out of habit and obligation, it isn't wholehearted. I pray at home at my altar for the most part, but who is to say that the earth itself isn't a church?

The point is not to gain attraction from those in the world, to show yourself higher than others as the Scribes and the Pharisees were doing. Prayer is fellowshipping with the Father in heaven, and it is meant to be a sacred act between the two of you unless it is corpret prayer, where two or more are coming together in prayer and this is done whether outside the Church or in the Church makes no difference, there is power when two or more agree together in prayer and Satan knows this and only if married couples would understand the power of unity in prayer, this Nation would experience less divorce, and their children would be more to walk in righteousness than finding drugs, acohol and sex as their lifestyle..God does talk back when people pray but do they listen and do that of His Will for their lives? The ones that do, experience true love, joy and peace..

Going to church is not just to pray....it is to go to worship God corporately, to enjoy fellowship with other believers...to edify each other...to be encouraged by a powerful message from the Lord through the Pastor....to galther resources to help others in need and then plan outreaches to be a blessing of love to those who are hurting. In reality, the 'closet' in which the Jewish man prayed was not the place you hang your hats and coats... but, a place alone with God... under your prayer shawl... and that could be done anywhere, all week long... That's why Christians are encouraged to pray without ceasing. Prayer is not to be a 'show off' event but a time of spiritual intimacy with the Great "I AM"

Because people DO read the whole Bible and we are commanded to go to church - but the idiots who stand in the streets and pray out loud saying - "Lord thank you for letting me be more intelligent than this" - that is what we are not supposed to do.

You go as an act of service. We are to pray together and forsake not the assembling together. We are to still have our quiet prayer at other times.

That is taking that verse out of context- I could spend all day telling you why I go to church- but you would need to read a lot more then one verse in the Bible to understand it.

That means that you should not pray in the open and brag about it.

Hebrews 10:25 "Let us not forsake our gathering together as is the habit of some...."
Meeting together on a regular basis (church) is a command of God. But not only a command....it is a welcome priviledge for all Christians
