there was a chance that extracting them would cause permanent numbness so I decided not to get them extracted.
I'm 17 and my wisdom teeth aren't bothering me yet so did i make the right decision by not getting them out?

Only the doctor who examined you can give you this kind of advice. The longer you wait tho, the harder it's going to be to get them out [your roots are probably still forming] and the greater the chance for nerve damage.

FYI, THE NERVES ARE NOT CONNECTED TO THE WISDOM TEETH IN THE WAY YOU DESCRIBE.

THERE IS ALWAYS A CHANCE FOR PERMANENT NUMBNESS IN ANY EXTRACTION- NO MATTER WHO DOES IT. THE CHANCES FOR THIS IS DURING SURGICAL EXTRACTION WHEN IT'S DONE TRAUMATICALLY.

HAVE AN ORAL SURGEON DO YOUR CASE BAND EXPLAIN THESE FACTS TO YOU IN PERSON.
ALSO, IF THEY AREN'T BOTHERING YOU, LEAVE THEM ALONE -- TOO MANY PEOPLE ASSUME THEY ALWAYS NEED TO BE EXTRACTED -- THIS IS NOT TRUE.

I have my wisdom teeth peaking too and I'm 14. They're already cutting through my gums, my lower left is already halfway out. Unless they hurt and cause problems, don't get them pulled.
