Montessori school?

Question

i live near San Francisco, a few miles away and am looking to enroll my 3 year old in a Montessori school. Is that to young? too old? can anyone recommend a Montessori preschool in my area? Thanks a lot!!! any information will help

I don't think so at all. I went to a Montessori school from the ages of 2 to 12. So far I've been on the honor roll every year that I've been out of a Montessori school. I feel that i also have an advantage from other students in my schools because I went to a Montessori school.I don't have any recommendations but when looking make sure that it is AMI recognized to make sure you're getting the proper Montessori training.

2 1/2 or 3 is the ideal age to start a child in Montessori school! In fact, lots of schools won't take children after that age if they have not had Montessori education because of the way the materials build on each other.

You can check the AMI (the organization that most closely follows Maria Montessori's method) website to find a school in your area. You'll definitely want to observe a class there to start the process! http://www.montessori-ami.org/ then go to the AMI/USA tab, and choose "schools".

Three years old is actually the ideal time to enroll your child in an Early Childhood Class. It is a multi-age level class ranging from 3-6 which creates a community of learners; with the youngest learning from the older, and the older children benifitting from the experience of being a mentor to the younger ones. A three year old starting their first year will get the full benefit of the Montessori Early Childhood experience.
