The kitchen is gallery style and pretty small (8ft long by 7ft wide). The range is on the right side of the kitchen. I want to move to the left. The distance will be about 7 feet. Also I live in an apartment building. Is moving this range even possible?

**Edit**
I would be using existing gas line.
I own the apartment. Would hire a pro. There is a wood floor with limited space between apartments.

The only way to find out is to speak with a registered gas fitter - Corgi in the uk...... you may also have to speak with the owner of the building to get permission for such a remodelling job - it will be quite extensive and expensive, as the pipes will have to be checked and moved and a gas fitting connected in the area you want the range moved to..... the pipes will probably have to be run under and in the flooring itself, or channelled out and run along and around the wall - again only a registered gas fitter will be able to advise on the best way of approaching this job and the costs involved .... the only difference you will find is in the price - most registered gas fitters work for themselves .... the other option is to contact the gas board and take their advice .... one more word of advice - it is illegal for an unqualified individual to undertake this work - registered gas fitters carry an insurance to cover for mistakes or accidents occuring through their work (generally highly unlikely) - unqualified individuals don't carry this kind of insurance and so any problems will be at your cost .....

If you rent, you can't move it without permission from the landlord -- but if you own your apartment, that shouldn't be a problem. I'd have a professional do it though because the connection to the gas supply will have to be moved and that's not something you want screwed up.

if you have concrete floors and you know the gas line passes under the kitchen floor, it is not worth the money to move your stove. If you have wood floors, you will still have to do quite a bit of demolition to access the pipe before you can move it. Of course check with your landlord before doing anything and if you have never worked with gas lines before, have a professional work on it.

This is no easy task. Moving a gas range takes a lot of knowledge about gas. DON'T ATTEMPT ALONE!!!! Further more, it wouldn't be wise to move appliances within a rental property.

Its hooked up to the gas line. Are you going to shut off that gas line, and connect it to a new gas line? Or run that gas line around the room? Something has to be done to the gas line, and you don't want leaking gas....

It would require re-routing the gas line which is difficult and require the land lord's consent, which he probably not give.
