Your kitten should be fine. I have a kitten, now 4 months old, that I got when she was only 6 weeks. Make sure to take the kitten to the vet ASAP, to make sure she is healthy. But 8 weeks is a normal time to get a kitten.
I left my 6 week old kitten alone during the day while I was at work and she was fine. I had her confined to a bathroom (tile floor incase of accidents) with her food, water, toys, litter box and bed.
Something I found really helpful, I filled a hot water bottle with warm water and wrapped it in a towel and laid it on her bed. She cuddled with it. The vet told me to do this, it reminds them of their mom - and keeps them warm.
Good luck with your kitten!

It's fine. 8 weeks is the perfect time to get a kitten. I've even gotten then as young as six weeks. I would let him hide for a little while but make him come out too. He has to get used to you. He will be fine while you are at work. Kittens are better than dogs. There quickly potty trained and they usually don't tear stuff up. He will probably sleep all day and be up all night. Just talk softly and lovingly to him and he will come around. Cats are independent so if he's not a constant lap sitter that's ok.

Yes, getting a kitten at 8 weeks old is normal. Any younger than that you should worry. Leaving a cat by itself is normal because cats/kittens are independant. If your cat wants to stay under the bed, that is fine because obviously he is a little scared. My kittens are out sleeping all day but when we go to bed they sleep under our bed and come out on their terms. When you go to work, don't lock the kitty in a room but let them do the exploring with you not there.
Good luck

Your cat should be fine at 8 weeks. Let him go under the bed so he has a spot he can call his own. He will come out soon when he is sure he is okay.
One thing we were told was you can sleep with a toy or a towel you will leve for the cat so that he gets use to your smell and will be more comfortable.

Eight weeks is the normal age for getting a kitten. Definitely let her hide out under the bed because she probably feels safe there -- it's like her secret cave. When you go to work, you might want to leave a t.v. on with low volume just so she can have some background noise while you're gone.

He will be absolutely fine under the bed, as long as there are no electrical cords he could chew or hazardous items in the room, but do give him lots of attention when he pops out! Cats are very independent and as long as you are giving him love when you get home, he will be just great.
8 weeks is not too young at all. I have had about 10 kittens throughout the years and got them around 6-8 wks. They all became healthy, loving cats.

8 weeks should be fine for you to care for him. You may want to leave a constant noise on for him, i.e. radio, so that he's not so spooked by the other noises. he will be fine under the bed, just make sure that he comes out to eat and go potty. I'm sure he's just a little nervous and this will pass once he's familiar with you and his surroundings. Don't forget to take him to the vet and get his shots and set up an appointment for him to get "fixed". Don't declaw.

Hiding under the bed is perfectly normal for a new kitten/cat.
Put his food and water in a separate corner from the litterpan,
because they don't like to mess where they eat, and he might have accidents.
Be patient - he will come out when you are there in a few days. Lie down on the floor, looking under the bed, and talk to him in a soft, loving voice. Wiggle your fingers a liitle bit when he comes out, or comes towards you.
Always pet him when he comes to you - he will learn it's a good idea to respond! Pet and 'groom' his head, neck, back, tummy, legs, and tail with your fingers - he will get used to being handled: you will need to groom him with a cat brush every one - two days to keep his fur untangled and skin healthy.
Play with his paws so he gets used to you clipping them once a month.
Have fun with your kitty - ours are lots of fun!

I've been told the recommended age to receive at kitten is at 12 weeks. However, I've known many people - like you - who have gotten cats at eight weeks and they\'ve been fine.
No, I don't recommend you let him under your bed. If you have other objects under your bed he could become entrapped and suffocate. He shouldn't have solid food at this point, I hope he is still on a kitten diet.
