I can understand why some people have things against god but why Jesus? he died for us and suffered.

god is the one who wants us to worship him every sunday and who killed lots of people during the flood and who didnt want Adam and Eve to know the difference between good and evil.

So what do people have against Jesus?

I have no idea what people have against Jesus. He was a great teacher. I am a Christian, and I have a hard time understanding why atheists, especially on yahoo, feel the need to ridicule and demoralize Jesus. Hypothetically speaking, if we assume that Jesus was just a man and not divine, then why can't we all respect Him as a person? He was a great teacher. The New Testament teaches so many wonderful things. It teaches each person how they would want others to treat them. If everyone were to live by Jesus' teachings, then this world would be a better place. I am not saying to convert to Christianity. I am only suggesting to look at what Jesus taught and accept that and live by it. You can be an atheist and still follow His teachings. At the very least, Jesus should be respected by all. He died for our sins. Whether He was man or divine or both, you who ridicule should feel ashamed to mock Jesus because of His sacrifice for you. I love Jesus for what He has done for us. He was divine, but that is my belief. All I ask is for everyone to respect the beliefs of Christians and most importantly, to respect Jesus.

You can not love Jesus and think God is a dictator, because Jesus and God go hand in hand, God the Son, God the Father,God the Holy Spirit. People are against religion because they don't fully understand the Bible very well. People pick out certain verse in the Bible and say this and that about it. But with bible study, when we pull the verse apart and have an in depth study of it then a person would have more understanding of that verse, and religion, than just choosing something at random and saying it's makes no sense, such fools.

Well monotheistic Christians believe God and Jesus are one (or should that be "is one?), along with the Holy Spirit which only the Charasmatics seem to acknowledge outside the Catholic Church. So if you are separating them, you are like me and are polytheistic. However, you believe the "died for us" theory and that is Christian dogma, which means you are not thinking for yourself and actually none of us were there so we do not know necessary what is the truth is. After all, Jesus was Jewish and I would think the wedding at Cana would have been his, especially since it's the responsibility of the groom to provide wine for all the guests. Just that little faux pas along with the mistranslation of the first verse of the Bible i.e. the Elohim aspect of "gods" with one for sure people feminine "Eloah" and the plural coming from the "-im," just imagine what else is not exactly as it should be. I have nothing against Jesus, it's the church and it's cultish followers.

The consensus is that God and Jesus are one. Plus the Holy Spirit, who really doesn't get anywhere near the exciting narratives of Jesus and God.

And what I have against Jesus is that he wants me to be tortured for eternity after I die because I don't believe his claims of divinity due to him not giving any evidence. It's hard to like someone who threatens to torture you if you don't worship them.

I have nothing against Jesus, I just choose not to believe in him. But that is my own personal choice, and I mean no offence to you.

I also feel that focusing on the suffering and death of Jesus are not the ways to go in religion. If you say "He died for your sins" and try to guilt people into believing in it, they aren't going to do it whole heartedly. It's more of a "fear of God" in that instance. But that, again, is my personal opinion.

Your question illustrates the great difficulty in understanding the Trinitarian doctrine of most Christian groups (three persons in one God). In this doctrine, Jesus is God and is no different from the God of Abraham in the Old Testament era.
Also don't take the Old Testament narratives too literally.

From what I understand, he stood for love and understanding, and tolerance. Somewhere his message got messed up and there are a bunch of @ssholes messing things up starting wars and strife and using his name in it. So just saying, those people that don't know about him or what he stood for are probably the ones that have a problem with him because his supposed followers aren't representing him very well. Me personally? I think he rocks!

Jesus is fabulous!
My life has meaning because of what Jesus taught me.

His groupies on the other hand are abysmal and painful to be around. I love them as taught but they have more in common with the Pharisees. If they were more like the guy they say they love then they would be much more fun to be around.

Free choice is what it is pal, free choice. The people that look down on others are nothing but hypocrites. Don't judge others unless you want to be judged. I'm not religious because I like to think for myself although I do believe in God.
