In my college mechanic class the guys are always rowdy and disruptive. The teacher often has to pause, or offer for them to get up and teach instead of interupting him, or just gets annoyed from some of the students some of the time. But he gets along with all of us and laughs sometimes, so it doesn't bother him so bad.
I on the other hand dont even like these guys, and are really annoying me since I've spent most of my life savings to pay for school and want the best benefit. Also their conversations are usually immature garbage kiddie jokes.
I'd really like to just stand up, turn around, tell all of them to shut the F up, then if one of them even breathes heavy at me, smash their head into the desk and jamb their nose into their skull with my knee. But I dont want to go back to jail. I have too much at stake to mess myself up on these young kids (there only 4 years or so younger BTW Im 23, they are 18-19)
How can I to tell them to be quiet without sounding too aggessive?

BTW. I have a smaller voice, and alot of anger inside me. And the guys sit across the room. So its hard for me to really "speak loud" without sounding like Im yelling angrily.

Class discipline is really the teacher's job. Leave it up to him to manage the rowdies. If it's really that bad, ask to speak with him after class to tell him your concerns and maybe you can get some 1-1 time with him off hours.
And, remember, the difference between 18 and 23 is a lot more than you realize. After all, you're 23 now - but what kind of a brat were you when you were getting in trouble with the law as a teen - (Hey, I'm just doing the math - not wanting to go BACK to jail? Well, then 4 years ago you were just like your rowdy classmates.)
As for your anger. Well, this is important. Talk to your probation officer - even if you're off papers - about getting into some anger management classes so that 1. you'll learn some tools to help you control your anger and 2. you'll at least let the authorities know that you're trying to regain your life in all kinds of different aspects.
Trust me. Letting your PO know that you need help will do a lot more in his eyes to show you're trying to straighten up than keeping quiet about it.
BTW - congratulations on trying to get your life back. We're pulling for you!

If they are around 18-19 years old, chances are that they just graduated high school and expect college to be the same as high school, where they can get away with whatever they want. It is the teachers responsibility to enforce his own rules instead of time and time again asking the students to remain quiet. After class, inform the teacher that the students that talk too much are disrupting your learning.
If the teacher doesn't do anything about it, ask them politely to please be quiet. If they refuse, talk to the teachers supervisor and inform them of the students and that the teacher will not enforce his own policies.
I know its frustrating, but stick with it!

First go to the professor and let him know how much a distraction those kids are being. He has the responsiblity to control his class. He is there to teach, not to be everybody's buddy or entertainment. If that doesn't work try to sit as close to the front as possible where there are less distractions. If that doesn't work, pin point the ringleader of those jokers, "bump" into him one day on a one-on-one situation and mention that you are frustrated with their behavior. Casually mention that you don't want to have to go back to jail becuase of something you will be forced to do... this should drive the point home. I feel for you... Good Luck!

For one thing, your teacher should perhaps either change the subject or probably ask those students to leave the classroom until they can behave themselves. Being silent doesn't always work for those who show no respect.
As for you, I have to commend you on wanting to get ahead in life. :) But, I would suggest that you just be polite to them (as hard as that may be) and possibly voice your opinions to these guys. Or - you could just stay silent and try to not let it bug you. If you really want to focus on your education, you could just sit closer to the teacher so that you catch everything he says (ya know, if it's relevant to a test).
Bashing in the skills of others solves nothing.

Just look at them and smile and say, "Quiten down, guys. I can't hear the teacher and I want to learn this stuff." Try the nice approach and if it continues, you may want to talk to the teacher or the administration and have the students disciplined or suspended; they shouldn't be there if they don't want to lear.

It is the teacher's responsibility to keep order in the classroom. If he fails to do this, report the situation to the teacher's superior

Next time it happens, say "Excuse me, some of us are here to learn. If you have better things to discuss, please take it out in the hallway".
