Sorry... i'm talking about legal immigration here. Some good answers so far. but to adress someone's point.

What gives me the right to call my friends xenophobic is the unwavering racisim that spews forth from their mouths. I work in a shoe shop and foreign people can often be awkward customers due to the difference in customs and culture.

I am understanding of this and take time to make the connection and be of reasonabel service. My friends use colourful racist language, avoid, and outright lie to these customers when serving them. They then whine about the "poles" polish, "packies" ALL middle eastern people and "chinks" ALL oriental people, in the stock room and talk about how they want them out of the country.

While i may not be entirely educated i know immogration is good for variouse reasons i just don't understand the economics of it fully...

Meanwhile my friends talk from a place of deep ignorance...

Legal immigration is a very good thing. It brings in new ideas, helps to cement relations with other nations and it brings in new talent to the work force.

Example, a family from Mexico legally comes into the United States. They have lived a different life and culture. They help to show communities the value of strong families. As for cementing relationships, well, it is like a marriage. The more family you have living somewhere the less likely you are to attack. (Unless you are a McCoy LOL). Finally, there are techniques, procedures and styles that will have been employed in the job at the last country that others here may not have thought about.

Becareful though. Why do you have the right to call your friends xenophobs if you do not understand your own stand. Are they against immigration or illegal immigration. I have been called a xeno by people because of my strong stand against illegal immigration. At the same time, I have sponsored immigrants coming to the states to help along the process. I am not against others coming in, I am against a weak border and poor national security.

UPDATE
OK, read why you have a right, but let me ask a new q of you. Why would you call a bigot and racist a friend. I have people I know who do not like immigration and who have called someone a racist name once. I tell them how I feel about it and that they are not to talk like that around me again. What you describe is not xenophobic behavior but pure ignorance, bigotry and racism. Please, speak up and help stop it.

Legal immigration in very small numbers can be good for the OVERALL economy. That is only if those people immigrating are ones that are productive, they integrate into our society and they do not commit any crimes.

Large scale legal immigration is only good for short term economic gain for a select few people. Big business gets cheap labor, the immigrants tend to be hard workers and a growth in population fuels overall growth. When we run out of, or run low on things like land, fresh water, energy supplies, etc. then we have a huge problem. Too much immigration is a pyramid scam that has to have an eventual crash. At our current LEGAL immigration numbers this countries population will double in 60-70 years. THAT is not gonna be good.

Illegal immigration even furthers the divide between a very small number of people who benefit while the rest of us pay the bill to subsidize cheap labor for criminal employers. Wages for most, to all Americans declines, the money illegals make is mostly sent to another country to help their economy and the taxpayers fund the illegals schooling, medical, food stamps, housing, WIC, etc.

Immigrant exertions right here it is low-priced, however now not that low-priced, they paintings for 250 to seven hundred Yuan = (U$ a million.00 = CNY 6.eighty four) U$ 36.fifty four to U$ 102.33, an immigrant could now not come to the US to paintings for those style of charges. They would not be ready to outlive in any respect. Now in a much less significant means that is what is occurring correct now, eleven million or so unlawful immigrants ought to paintings someplace, most commonly are running for Americans, they ought to are living someplace, most commonly are renting houses from Americans, they ought to consume, they're shopping from Americans and paying sale taxes, they want delivery who possess the coverage businesses, automobile businesses, dealerships.. Americans, they want drugs, American pharmacies + taxes, they get taxes withheld each and every week, get a W2 on the finish of the yr however they do not declare their tax go back, they do not retire, they do not get welfare, unemployment. Now suppose how well it could be to the housing marketplace to have eleven million men and women emptying residences and residences, no hire sales to aid men and women pay the loan on their moment residence, overstock and extra depreciation, foreclosure and extra depreciation.. immigrants at the American society are extra of a main issue in peoples head in view that at present you do not have a robust European immigration flux to America, so the whites rigorously or now not, suppose handled to grow to be a minority over time, and the blacks suppose like they're loosing a few flooring because the major minority institution, and everyone else that has a few fiscal wrestle at the activity marketplace, blames immigration, now, as a man or woman who was once born right here, one must have colossal expertise competing for a task role, suppose looking to compete for a task, in a international nation in which you do not dominate the language good and you are now not even allowed to paintings, shall we say like Japan, do you consider you could be a deal with to a Japanese respectable? You begin from not anything there, no college, right here you are a engineer, attorney, dentist, driving force or secretary, there you are not able to paintings in your discipline of advantage you're going to do heavy exertions, and one way or the other men and women nonetheless will suppose handled. Immigration is an incentive to younger Americans to preserve on college, move trough, conclude it, get to a College and conclude it, if one way or the other the man or woman overlooked a few of these steps at the private growth, it is constantly time to restart and develop. I robust think that if good geared up and with extra co existential sentiments, the US might be house to one thousand million men and women or extra, recall that if it the state of Florida was once a huge city it might keep the whole global populace of 6 billion men and women. So, what is eleven million men and women as opposed to a first-class excuse...?

Immigration is good for the US economy because immigrants bring their effort and skills when they come here. This means that the US has more people who are more productive than if it did not have immigration today.

If you agree that human effort and ability is a truly precious resource than I think that it is logical that people who want to move to the US to have better lives are normally Not lazy and stupid in general and will be a benefit to the economy and to the society.

it is good for our schools, hospitals, jails be filled with illegal aliens? Why should taxpayers in the US have to pay for this when we are already burdened with college for our own children, high electric and gas prices? There must be a movement to send these people back to their homeland that they caused to fail.

immigrants are good for the economy in the following ways:

1) they consume things sold in this country. buying goods sold here gives companies a chance for expansion.

2) they tend to provide fairly cheap labor. they often work jobs that require strange hours.

the cost of closing the border will be 1) paying all the border patrol agents to monitor things

2) making up for the lost labor

3) making up for the lost consumption

It's bad for the economy, unless you enjoy paying out hundreds of tax dollars every year to give illegal immigrants health care, food stamps, etc.
