I asked the following question:

So, if a Christian answers, "An Atheist" gives more thumbs down ratings...and an atheists answers, "A Christian" gives more thumbs down ratings...
How do Christians rate these answers?
How do Atheists do to rate these answers?
If you are an atheist and disagree with the Christian answer, do you:
1) Give the Christian answer a thumbs down (and end up shooting yourself in the foot and proving yourself wrong)
2) Give the Christian answer a thumbs up (even though you disagree, in order to try to prove your point)
And vice versa....etc, etc....???!!!
And how can I decide which is true based on the ratings of the answers?!

If the answer is belligerent, I give a thumbs down. If I agree or disagree, but find the answer insightful and well thought out, I give a thumbs up.
If the answer seems to fill space, and adds no value, I leave the thing alone.
I'm a Christian.

I think it's funny that it's so important to you that you find out the answer. But all I know is that I'm a Christian and I didn't give any thumbs up or thumbs down on that one!!

i am neither Christian nor Atheist...
i rate answer based on the closet answer that can help me solve my problem....
what you are asking is more of a moral issue, basically will a christian or an atheist swallow their pride and admit that one or the other has a valid point or not....
That would depend on the person that asked the question not necessarily to the group of Christianity or Atheist
as far as how would you decide which answer is true, in my opinion all answers on this site is based on personal opinions whether Through personal experience or morals... it is still opinion and not fact

I am a Christian, and To be honest, I give many more thumbs down to Christian answers, as I find many of them to be insulting and vulgar. There are not too many "Real" Christians in this forum.
And also to be honest, I love my questions that get the most thumbs down, as I speak the truth to my understanding of truth. I got 17 thumbs down one time, and I was very proud and pleased.

"how can I decide which is true based on the ratings of the answers?!"
You can't. Unfortunatly enough people are really biased when they rate, so it throws everything off. I get thumbs down all the time for giving nice, but non-Christian answers.

I'm not sure how to answer this one for you honey.
I usually just give a thumbs down to people who give obviously false answers, or answers that serve no purpose but to spread hate or intolerance.
I'm not a Christian, but not an Atheist either.
So my answer isn't really relevant... sorry.

Well, i just gave ratings to many of these answers... does that help you figure out your problem...
Many of us rate things based upon beliefs, whether it made us laugh, or whether the answerer is just a hate-monger.... I extremely dislike hate-mongers.

What does a thumbs down mean in the end and why would you waste your time caring?
