Yes, I think dogs would say that humans are their best friends. Humans feed them, house them, pet them, train them, give them medical care even if they don't appreciate it. In return, dogs look cute, wag their tails and don't pee in the house.

Besides, humans have to do many of the same things in order to live with other humans: shower, shave, wear clothing, work, keep the lawn mowed, etc.

If dogs had to live without humans, they'd have to deal with other dogs and that can't be anywhere near as much fun. It is too bad that dogs can't wander the neighborhoods, have fun and then come home to eat and sleep. That would probably be an ideal life for them. All of the freedom plus the comforts of home.

My dog considers his collar as his possession and something he likes wearing. like a human with an article of clothing or jewellry.
My dog does not need a muzzle as he is gentle and kind. I do not make him perform silly tricks and I dont make him go hungry. he does not live on scraps either of food or affection.
he is appreciated as a personality in his own right and loved as a member of the family. His dignity as a dog is respected.
If a man was a dog and wanted to be my best friend he would not have to have a Rover eye for other Lassies, he would need to know the meaning of Fidolity, he would not Rex the house and he would be prepared to lick my face.

Dogs like being treated like a dog. They prefer to have a pack leader dominate them because this is how their little society operates. They instinctively follow me as I go outside and walk around, I seldom use a leash at all and walk about 8 dogs at once. They stay tight next to me because they assume that I am their pack leader. The only one that scatter when released are the hounds who are trained to be a unit in themselves that track.

My dogs would probably say they ARE my best friend because they pretty much are. Women are very different and although I will admit that many techniques in training humans are the same as dogs, the make up of the Psyche is extremely different.

The dogs are our best friends - always being there for us and caring about us no matter how we treat them - no one said it was the other way around...

If men are dogs, men are still dog's best friends.

Dogs are man's best friends. Women's best friend is a stupid rock that doesn't know how to sit, but if you cashed it in, it sure would help pay the vet bills.
