3 days ago a praying mantis was on my car in which was parked in the middle of a huge parking lot as I was leaving work at 11pm. I took him to a small tree at the edge of the lot and left. THEN last night as I was leaving work again at 11pm the same praying mantis was back on my car, and wouldn't get off. I didn't want to drive with him on there and hurt him so I opened my lunch box and he walked inside on his own. I thought that was really weird. So I took him home and put him in my garden last night. Every year around the time of my dads death, I find a praying mantis that hangs around my back door or my car for at least a week... Is that good luck, do you think it is reincarnation? I find it funny because my dad had a thing for praying mantis, and he used to hold them and never once was bitten.

yeah my dad killed himself 8yrs ago. I have accepted his death. He was sick for a long time, and believed in the right to end your life for a longterm illness. But doctors are not allowed to give you the pink needle, so he did it himself. If you want to call that significant damage to his life in that he didn't say goodbye, i can accept that as an answer.

As far as the Ouija board, I haven't played since middle school, because of some crazy stuff a dead guy told me to tell my mom that I didn't even know about, and when I told her she cried like crazy, because it was stuff that they had talked about in life. That was too scary for me. The Ouija board is a gateway. I believe that. Especially because the one I have is about 100yrs old... scary.

I honor your dad's death (& life), yet at the same time, it just seems to me that your dad died in the midst of the Praying Mantis mating season. They are probably fairly prevalent in your vicinity, and you are not likely the only one seeing them.

And if the common thought about karma and reincarnation WERE true, and your dad was reincarnated as an insect, then somehow he must have done significant damage to his karma during his lifetime. So unless you think your father needs to go through some karmic repair, I would give up the idea of his return as a praying mantis.

By the way, Praying Mantises do not bite humans. Anyone can hold them, so long as they don't mind their prickly feet.

Wow!

The SAME praying mantis?
that's incredible.

Better buy a lottery ticket. Or maybe a bigger car. :)

I think this is the kind of thing that makes you feel good about your Dad's memory and that is GREAT. If it helps you to remember the good times - go for it.

Not for any insects that come across them, that's for sure. They are good luck for gardeners though - They're wonderful at taking care of garden pests.

The PREYING MANTIS is not good luck.
The female eats the male after mating.
It is a protected species here in the USA.
Very common in late summer.

Awww that's so sweet! Maybe it's his spirit totem sending you his thoughts.

Considering they eat other bugs and aren't pests themselves, I consider them good luck. Cool lookin' too.

Well....it's illegal to kill them(atleast where I live) but as far as being lucky, or a sign or something of your dad...doubt it...praying mantises don't live that long...

No, they are just BUGS. And, like most BUGS, they are seasonal - you don't find many mosquitoes hanging around in the dead of winter, do you? Love bugs appear around the same times each year. Etc.

Sorry, but your dad is dead. Mine's getting close, and it's just something you have to accept.
