Religious strife and wars seem to show they do not find anything agreeable with each other.
Edit: lol, on pin heads we agree! But is that type of agreement an agreement on the definition of god? (You are, indeed, a fun friend!)

You mean "God" and not just a deity in general? If I can leave out pantheists, deists, etc., I would think that a few necessary qualities would be:
1) The ability to do something extraordinary that people can't do
2) Invisibility
3) A consciousness that is similar to humans in some ways (decision making, sensory reception, etc.)

Supernatural is probably the only one. Of course, pantheists and pagans believe God and nature are interchangeable so not even that is universal.
But, for the purposes of our discussions -- an omnipotent and omniscient creator who has authored a text.

Excellent question!
I'm not sure I"ve decided completely on my vision of "god". I'm not sure that everyone would agree...but here's my shot at your question:
God is eternal.
God is within.
God is love.

God is eternal. God created all there is.
After that things start to fall apart a bit.
