I just did my exams and I failed so I have to resit.But i studied really hard but there are subjects that I just can't grasp.Practically all my classmates got all A*'s.Please don't reccomend a tutor because I want to do this on my own.Is being a straight A student something your born with or is there something I'm not doing right in order to learn things?

First off - what kind of parents have you got? brainy, medium or adequate. Are they professors or cashiers? Some of your study ability is genetic. Brainy people often have brainy parents.

Now, a couple of other things: HOW do you study? Have you got ear buds in and hearing songs/music while you 'study'? This is often a BAD idea. the brain needs focus to get the material into it!

Then maybe you are trying to do stuff that you do not have a talent for. . . if you are right brained, you need the arts/humanities department. If left brained then you should shoot for sciences, logical stuff.

Go to the counselor and ask these questions about your talents/giftings and ask for the advice to get you into an area where you 'fit'..

You do not NEED to be an all A student. Most people must satisfied with C (since that is the average mark)

Best wishes,

-your local library network may offer a free online tutoring service on its website. It's a great resource to take advantage of, if you have it
-study regularly (a little bit every day), to keep the info fresh in your head, not just a day or two before a test
- take study breaks every half hour or so
- try different study methods, such as using flashcards (very good idea), getting a study buddy, make review packages for every unit or something else
- get a good amount of sleep every night, and stick with that sleeping schedule (about 9 hours should be good)

Each one of those things are positive changes that will for sure help you. I think that anyone can get A's if they work hard enough. It comes much easier to some than others, and some people have learning challenges that make it much more difficult, but I think it is still doable. Best of luck with redoing your exams!

i think there are 2 main differences the straight A students have from others ( yeah, i am one of them)

really good memories

a strange ability to read the homework or work the homework problems and be able to "see" what the teacher will ask on the test. I don't mean that you know they will ask about the square root of 87, 3454 ( but you know there will be a square root problem) and you know there will be an essay problem where you have to explain something about the feudal system.
====================
Aside from that, i think you should rethink why you don't want a tutor. They can help you get to A's faster and easier.
What's wrong with that?
