Do you think your denomination has everything correct ?
Denominations are like political parties all they do is divide not bring us together like was the Gods intention. We are to be of one mindset working towards the goal of educating those who have not yet accepted Christ.
Most Denominations started out right but then people started to push their own agendas and got away from what God wants us to do.
The only reason we are still on this Earth after we accept Christ is to lead others to Him. If we are not doing that we should not even call ourselves Christians since that is what Jesus came to do "I have come to seek and save the lost." Christian means to be like Christ!!!
If the main focus of your denomination is not to seek the lost and lead them to Jesus then you are way off base and need to find one that focuses on the lost. Furthermore if you let anything come before Christ crusafied and risen again for the salvation of mankind you need to rearange your priorities.

Genghis; Jesus never founded a Church. Those of us who follow Him are the Church.

We that are the Body of Christ are all over the world. Denomination means, "divided."
We, i.e. my family has no part with any denomination. We go to a non denominational church, two in fact, and have communion as a family at passover.
Through the study of church history and learning about how much paganism is in the church we separated our self from it and don't press the issue with anyone else.
Do I think I have it ALL right. NOPE!
But I'm doing the best I can with the knowledge that has been passed to me.
I see my children living for God while so many others are having sex and getting pregnant while going to church.
Denominational-ism is a great tool of the enemy.
I know that we must be set apart and live holy for the sake of the Gospel for the saving of the lost.
In a nut shell. It's all about Jesus.

Brother Stone, my friend, is that you ? Welcome back, long time no hear !

In answer to your question, I would never claim The Church Of God is right on every issue, but I do believe that we strive to govern ourselves by The WORD of God. The New Testament being our only rule for Church Government, and individual conduct.

I realize many don't believe in Denominational Control, and I understand that point, but too much independence isn't good either. A Pastor needs oversight, and I believe a Church needs oversight as well. Accountability is a good thing.

I love The Church Of God, and I have no doubt that I have been called to this Church, and I basically am in full agreement with the Leadership, and I know that I am free to express any disagreement I may have with out fear.

The primary emphasis of The Church Of God is evangelism, it is all about winning souls to Christ Jesus, and I will agree that if a Church isn't involved in soul winning, it may as well close it's doors !
Be Blessed my Brother, in Christ Jesus !

I personally, am a full gospel non-demoninational follower of Jesus Christ. I believe that the word of God has everything correct and that denominational ties are simply an expression of one's believe in the gathering together around someone's interpretation of the Word of God. As long as the understanding of the person, nature and works of Jesus Christ are a constant,as well as the basic and core doctrinal beliefs are in line with main line Christian belief, then I have no problem with such distinctions. As you have stated, however our main purpose is to Glorify God,though Jesus Christ and to draw a disbelieving world to Him,by testimony and through the life that is lived in the Spirit of God.

Did you actually want an answer to your question, or did you just want to tell everyone how wrong they are?

To answer your real question, without getting frustrated over the person you just wrote yourself to be, I don't think my denomination has everything correct.

There is always going to be something about every denomination that you are not 100% okay with. The thing you have to ask yourself is if that part that you're not okay with is fundamental to your salvation.

If your doctrine says that pork is an unhealthy meat and you shouldn't eat it on a regular basis, that's not exactly fundamental. However, if your doctrine says that anyone who eats pork is going straight to hell, that is pretty heavy.

With denominations, you have to find the one that you feel is doing God's work. Pray about it and research their doctrines until God leads you to a church that is suitable. Most of us will never find a church that is completely perfect.

Denominations are much the same as our homes.Saying that we shouldn't have, or that Jesus didn't point to a church is a misconception that is very common in the world today. Many think you don't even have to go to church to be saved but if your saved why wouldn't you want to fellowship with those of the same mind that you are?Granted we are the church, and the work that you refer to isn't being done as it should. But please read your question and asked yourself. What kind of witness is this going to be to the lost and those who lack the understanding that you have of God's plan.

Just as all of our homes are different, so are many of the churches. And just as not all of our homes are in order, so are many of the churches.I wish every body was going to church some where.I wish people would come into these churches not to find a comfortable pew and lots of friends but to worship God and help a hypocrite find the right path. Why not let that be you and I?

I agree, the most important thing is the Gospel message--the church I belong to is non-denominational; in July we had a series of tent meetings in the community. All nearby churches were invited to participate in unity to lift up Jesus Christ. The vast majority of the denominational churches did not participate & spoke against the meetings. We have been praying & will continue to pray for the pastors & churches & for unity in the Body of Christ. BTW--we had about 20 people born again during the meetings.

I'm not bragging--far from it--it's all about Jesus & we try hard to keep our agendas out of what we're doing.

"But when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will teach you all the truth. For He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He will hear he will speak, and the things that are to come He will declare to you." John 16:13

Most non-Catholic sects declare that the Holy Spirit is 'teaching' them the truth. However, there can be only one truth. Since the advent of Sola Scriptura and individual interpretation of Scripture, how can the Holy Spirit be in each of the thousands of sects, teaching all of them opposing viewpoints? It is to be noted that all of the following denominations teach from the same Bible, so why the differences in teaching?

1. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Lutherans the Eucharist is the true presence of Christ, and then tell the Baptists it is only a symbol?

2. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Methodists it is alright to have female ministers, and then tell the Baptists it is unbiblical?

3. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Seventh Day Adventists that Saturday is the day of worship, and then tell the Presbyterians the day of worship is Sunday and not Saturday?

4. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Lutherans that the Blessed Virgin Mary was and remains always virgin, and then tell the Baptists she had other children?

5. How can the Holy Spirit tell the Baptists, 'once saved always saved', and then tell the Church of Christ that Sola Fides is unscriptural?

6. How can the Holy Spirit tell Episcopalians to baptize infants and then tell Pentecostals infant baptism is invalid?

7. How can the Holy Spirit tell Mormons that the Holy Trinity is three separate persons, and then tell Methodists the Trinity is three persons in one GOD?

I could go on and on with the differences between non-Catholic sects, but I think you get the point. It takes only a minimum of common sense to realize that the Holy Spirit could not be speaking to each and everyone of those thousands of non-Catholic sects in the opposing ways of which I have sampled here. However, I was recently reminded that common sense is not so common anymore. It is easy to see that the 'fruits of Sola Scriptura' are not from GOD. There is no 'one fold and one shepherd' in Protestantism. Opposing teachings in these denominations is rampant, all caused by the false doctrine of Sola Scriptura and its accompanying 'individual interpretation' of Holy Scripture. Which, if any, of these sects is being taught all of the truth, as promised by Jesus Christ in John 16:13?

"And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom GOD has given to all who obey Him." Acts 5:32

Soo True Brother Stone!
So True.
But instead of people throwing themselves into evangelism and jumping in to sorting out their priorities, Christ needs to do a work in All our lives, wherever we are at, and sometimes this takes time, as I am still learning.
But Yes our teachers and The Church should strive to lead us in this way as we try to walk in Him.
As Christ Jesus is coming back for His Bride, A spotless Church.

I think even with denominations we can still have Christian unity. Unfortunately, as human beings we all have minds, spirits and egos, and different things feed those parts of ourselves. You sound very much like a zealot, and very little like a "humble servant" of Christ. It's a good thing to have our convictions and beliefs. However, Jesus had very harsh words for the self-righteous pharisees of his time, and I doubt he would have kind words for the ones of our time.

I'm getting burned out on the issue of denominational theological differences. Sometimes we over react over trivial differences!

I'm OK with any denomination that gets the main things right.

Who am I top judge others anyway?
