.I think that everyone should read up about this breed and inform him/herself properly, before deciding on having an APBT.
.I am the proud owner of a really sweet 10 month old red nose pit and I know that this breed is not for the faint of heart!.
.It takes a certain and educated and responsible kind of owner to have an APBT and i wouldn't recommend this breed to first time dog owners.
.this breed is very people friendly but tend to be dog aggressive when they mature. Those dogs are a NO NO FOR DOG PARKS! this is reality and this is true. If you are familiar with this breed you will concur.
.Personally I think that they are wonderful and that with a responsible owner and the right training they are the most loyal, happy dogs and the best companion anyone can ask for.

Any problem I've had with dogs I have always been able to trace back to something the owner did or should have done but didn't do. So I don't have a problem with any breed of dog, just with people. I will say that the pits I have met have been some of the most well behaved dogs I have ever met. The worst behaved dogs I have ever met have always been the small to very tiny dogs because for some reason people feel that they don't need to train them. However, on Saturday I did have the misfortune to be standing next to the "labradoodle" from hell. If that is an example of what people are getting I hope they aren't paying much for them because that dog lunged and tried to full out attack 6 different dogs, mine included all within 1 hour.

I think pit bulls are great dogs i have a pit bull and a Rottweiler and a few of my friends have pit's,the only reason people are the way they are about pit's is because a lot of people use them for fighting dogs,or guard dogs and i think that is messed up because now if you found or had a pit bull you couldn't keep they would put them down rather than trying to find a good home i am against that 100% I work for an animal hospital and i have seen pits come in to be put down and i have ineracted with them before they were put down and i teared up when i found out what they did the pit's were the nicest most friendliest dogs i know.

Pits are great dogs and friendly by nature, but just like any dog which is powerful and yes that includes poodles, there is potential for trouble when not trained or restrained properly. If Pits are regulated then so should all larger dogs be including standard poodles which on occasion have mean streaks even small dogs have there mean streaks but just because they are small and dont do much damage noone cares when they get bit... I know, I owned a pomeranian and a labrador retriever they were both cat and small animal killers.
The issue is always the same, people blame pitbulls for everything and the stupid irresponsible owners are the ones that should be regulated but they dont.
i also have 5 pitbull terrier's(3 red nose,1 blue nose and one mixed with shar pei),they are around my kids and other pets. one of my female pit's thinks that my chinchilla is her baby, she tries to get it to nurse when it walks away from her or i put him away she'll cry.. they are very friendly dogs

I think they are great I have two pit bulls. One is full grown, 3 years old, and one is a 2 month old pup. I think they are the greatest dogs ever. I never would have thought I would have ever love them as much as i do. When i rescued Porkchop (my 3year old) I was apprehensive but now I would recommend them to any body. they are the most sweet, smart, loyal dogs ever. I wish all the people who think otherwise would just meet a pit ( a pit from a good loving home) and see how really great they are. They are very good family dogs, this goes to all the people who say they aren't. I have had my 3 year old since he was 6 weeks, and that was when my daughter was 3, he is now 3 and she is 6, he has never been aggressive to her at all. She could sit on him. Dress him up. Run around him screaming. and all he does is lick her face. I don't think it is right for people to come on her and give people false info on pit bulls. saying they are not family pets. That's just bull.

I'm the proud "mommy" of the sweetest pit-bull on 4 white paws. Baby Blue was snatched (by me!) from a fighting pit when he was about 6 months old, where he was being used as bait. I heard the ruckus, burst into the garage where the fight was being held, grabbed the puppy and dared - literally dared anyone to stop me - and to get the **** out of my neighborhood before I did something really serious.
There must be something about angry middle-aged fat women that strikes terror in the hearts of big bad guys; because they left that night and were never seen in the neighborhood again.
When I got him he was torn to shreds, frightened, UN-socialized, sad. He was a candidate for euthanasia. But he looked at me with eyes to melt over and so I tended his wounds and brought him up to be a sweet, cuddly boy.
He still carries scars from his ordeal and he absolutely hates being tied - which is sometimes necessary during Deer season here in WV. It's better to chain your dog than for hunters to shoot it.
But he's also the sweetest little guy - about 60 lbs of pure, unadulterated love that can be trusted with 2 year olds and mentally challenged children.
So much for Michael Vick's idea of what worthless is.
One more thing - I recently had to take my dad's 15 year old border collie because he was entering into a nursing home. The two dogs get along fine - no food/toy aggression, no growling or even a rumble from either dog. And this is from a dog who was indeed raised to fight.

Well thank dear Vick and the press for the drama and people are reacting out of fear to the press. And if it sells newspapers the next we hear about will be the Rottweilers, Dobermans, GSD and such. It's sad... Funny, you don't ever read much about the little breeds that send people to the hospital every year....
As for pit bulls, I have no problem with them at all. I know enough to know it's all about where you get the dog and how you raise it. Just like ANY other dog they can be great or a horror, depending on the humans involved.

Wouldn't own 1, but don't have a problem with other people owning them if they are responsible to their community and take precautions to prevent "incidents". WELL FENCED YARDS with "KEEP OUT-DANGEROUS DOG" signs to discourage kids or annoying door 2 door solicitors from enterting the yard. It also helps cover the owners *ss! Insurance policy against attack or injury by the dog. I strongly feel city limits should enforce this ordinance. Truly good Pit lovers and owners would comply and those who have no business with a dog like this would lose their animals and be fined and/or sentenced to community service at the animal control shelter which is occupied by more pit and pit mixes than any other type. ANd to the people who argue that there wuld be alot of pits euthanized in this situation....You're right, but there has been a surge of puppies and you can't even give them away. Their numbers need to be regulated and the irresponsible backyard breeders STOPPED!!! A real "macho" man can handle his own without sicking his dog on you..."Bully" owners of Bully dogs is a volitale combination of ignorance and instinct.
