For those of you that say the Missionaries are respectful and allow me to my own ways. Why is it when I tell them I am not interested they still stop by 3 to 4 times a year? I am starting to see them as pests not allowing me to hold my own faith as I see fit but insist on teaching we theirs. I even had one start quoting to me from the BofM to make a point that I was wrong AFTER I told him that I didn't respect that book as scripture.. There is no allowance for my faith not even at my own front door... Jim

Some of you have questioned my use of the word "rectify" One thought I was specking of the sin of Sodomy. To dispel these misconceptions I include the dictionary meaning of the word spelled just as it is in the question..
rec·ti·fy Show Spelled Pronunciation[rek-tuh-fahy] Pronunciation Key
–verb (used with object), -fied, -fy·ing.
1. to make, put, or set right; remedy; correct: He sent them a check to rectify his account.
2. to put right by adjustment or calculation, as an instrument or a course at sea.
3. Chemistry. to purify (esp. a spirit or liquor) by repeated distillation.
So again : How do you "Make right" the 11th article of faith with your Missionary efforts?
I think that sounds terrible but maybe with some of you who only speak Utahees (Chad_4_Christ) maybe they can now understand.. MAYBE...

I am not sure. In The 11th article of faith, we state that “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.” This is great as an ideal. Today, I heard Elder Uchtdorf say that we must respect the beliefs of others outside the church, even as we introduce them to the good in what we believe. But should we apply this internally, to ourselves?
Are all believing approaches to Mormonism equally valid? Do we need to correct those who approach Mormonism differently than we do? Or should we be grateful that there are people willing to do their home-teaching, no matter what they believe about Book of Mormon historicity or our relationship to God?
You can not worship God with the dictates of your own conscience, it is God's law to be obeyed and not your conscience as you go along. this is not what I hear at the door from the Mormons.

"We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. "
I thought I'd start by quoting the scriptural version.
I'm not sure I understand the question. To rectify basically means to correct, right? There is no need to correct the 11th Article of Faith. Do you mean how do we reconcile or justify the two together?
The missionary program forces no one to worship in a way that they don't want to. It merely allows the chance to learn more about the gospel and presents the opportunity to repent and receive the saving ordinances. The only conflict I could see is if someone was in the middle of worshipping when the missionaries tried to talk to them. That might prevent the "when" of their worship, which isn't mentioned in the article. (I'm not saying we try to dictate when people worship. I'm just pointing out that it isn't mentioned in the article.)
Edit: I hope my email explained my views on your edits. I didn't see them when I answered.
And Chad_4_Christ isn't a Mormon, he isn't even a Christian. Just a troll.

you're still able to worship who and what you want right? So the missionaries didn't hinder or stop you in any way. So why the complaint?
Also the missionaries rotate every so often. Every six weeks there are transfers so every six weeks missionaries may move to a different area and new missionaries will fill in the area the previous ones left.
That's why they come by every once in a while, because they didn't know you did not want them at your door. Just hang a sign outside your door that states your desires to have all LDS missionaries to leave you alone, so that way they're not waisting your time.
Be proactive instead of complaining about it like a two year old girl with a scraped knee.

Hey Jim - good to see you
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
Yes, what a privilege to worship our Heavenly Father, Almighty God. We also believe that it is a commandment to preach his gospel - that can be shown in the bible as well as the Book of Mormon and Doctrine & Covenants. We do send missionaries to go out and preach the gospel, but when a person is uninterested, we leave them alone, we do not try to force our beliefs upon anyone. If a person does that, that is because of their own short-comings, not a position the church would take. We believe there is good in all religions...President Hinckley once said (I am paraphrasing this, not directly quoting) about other religions, "Bring all the good you have and we (the church teaching the gospel) will add the rest".
To NOT share the gospel would be selfish and lazy of us as members and a slap in the face to the Lord I think, it would be like saying "Well, I know the gospel is true but I don't want to share that joy with anyone else."
That's my opinion.

We ask that we be allowed to worship God and Jesus Christ as we choose. And if we ask this favor of others, we must return it. We SHOULD not criticize, belittle, or harass someone because they do not agree with us.
As our missionaries care a great deal about our fellow humans, we look for some common ground for beginning a discussion. Friendly discussion may be possible, but we try to avoid contention. Missionaries believe the Church could bring a lot of joy and contentment. These efforts to explain what we believe may fall on deaf ears now, but it is the Spirit of the Lord that converts. In other words, when someone is ready and is open to learning more, they may then come to you for help in her search.

do I rectify the 11th? yes. you may be asking are the Elders that are pestering you following it as it supposed to be followed. The efforts of Elders are not haphazard. there is something in your mannerisms that gives them hope you will gain some truth in their meetings with you. If you argue or are cross with them, they will slack off completely. Maybe it's in your eyes.
I'm assuming you are speaking of a modern day encounter in USA. Here there is freedom. You are freed to open your door to them. file a peace-warrant. Ignore their knocks...You are free to let your sweet spirit welcome them in peace and try to find common ground. Are YOU trying to convert them into something other than Mormonism? If not, then why are you so nice as not to run them off under certain terms to not return?
Missionaries serve 2 years. in that 2 years they may move to several different communities. Perhaps you are just getting knocked by different Missionaries without report of the last pair you ran off.

ALL the Articles of Faith are rectified through the Holy Spirit.
Lacking the Holy Spirit, they cannot be rectified.
Denying the Trinity means Mormons lack the Holy Spirit.

I am the only non church member on my street and the missionaries have never stopped by...I wonder why?
Some people say that if you are not interested the missionaries will leave you alone. I do not agree with that. I have even been cornered before and literally screamed to get him to leave me alone. Although most missionaries I have met are very nice, as long as there are a few who act in this manner then the entire system needs to be re-evaluated in my opinion.
