I have children with adhd some more severe than others. I was seeing what kind of information do I need to apply for SSI for the severe one. She has been taking meds since she was 6 and is eleven and still can't function in school with out it. They just send her home.

You would have to have a diagnosis from a Psychiatrist and complete addresses for medical records, school records, IEP information etc.

In my experience, most children with ADD/ADHD do not get SSI unless it is accompanied by autism or other mental or physical issues.

SSI changed the rules for ADD/ADHD about 10 years ago and quit allowing it as a stand alone disability.

Usually applicants are denied in the first application, which takes about 6 months to process, and first appeal, which takes another 3-4 months. Usually a favorable determination will take place at the Judicial Law Hearing which takes at least 2 years from initial application. At that point you will want an attorney to represent you.
