You don't like her?
I love Sandra Lee. Sandra is like your aunt who's been married 4 times and doesn't have any kids. She works in a salon and drives a convertible. She drinks a little too much and most of the family is embarrassed by her, but you always try to sit next to her at Christmas because she's the most interesting one at the table. Who cares if she dresses a little inappropriately and she hit on your seventh grade teacher? She's the one who taught you how to put on makeup and she's the one who told you all the family secrets when you turned 18. When a boy breaks your heart, you're not going to call Mom, you're going to call Aunt Sandra, who will sit on the other end of the line drinking a bottle of wine and agree that he's a bastard for treating you like that and she never liked him anyway.
But, if you're a guy, you'd just be stoked to have a hot aunt like Sandra.

I'm not crazy about her, but what really bothers me about the cocktails is she has to make one even when the meal is geared for a child's party. It gives the impression you can't have any meal without a cocktail.
Like some of the others I don't understand the changing scenery with every theme. It goes against the idea of fast, shortcut cooking. I would rather spend the time on first rate cooking.

The cocktails don't bother me so much as the changing set and her tablescapes. I mean really. WHO is going to change their curtains to match the dishes? And if this was real, who on earth would have 8 billion sets of dishes and glasses and then say "This tablecloth is just fabric with a little hem, it's cheap!" But yet the napkin holders are at least $6 a person. And the whole premise is semi-homemade to save money? Sell a few of those dishes!
She bugs me, but I still watch her just to jeer.

Yeppers. She loves to add a cocktail and decorating tips for every show. Ya know? She used to bug the bajeebers out of me until I saw her biography show and wow, she had an amazing story. Take about pluck and desire. all I knew before is that she was married to an extremely wealthy man (now divorced) so I wrongly considered that she was just a very rich woman looking for a hobby. Wrong.
And while I don't tend to watch her show and I do still find her a bit too excited about everything, her story is still amazing.

She needs to lay off of television cooking programs period, she is a hack and is an embarrassment to the quality cooks and chefs featured on food network, like Ina Garten.
edit-I do not like Rachael Ray either. I don't believe Sandra Lee is good for busy Amercian cooks. She uses a lot of processed foods in her recipes, making them really unhealthy. I make fast dinners at least four to five times a week, using fresh ingredients not Italian sesaoning from a pack or the God forbid Cool Whip. And yes her "tablescapes" are extremely costly and way too over the top.
P.S. I know Ina Garten is not a chef, and that is what is even more impressiver about her and Paula Dean they are very good educated cooks that know how to make a wonderful meal that is not hard to try for yourself. Ina almost always does tables to in her for whatever theme it is and her table tops are always elegant but simple.

I like that she covers every aspect of a meal from cocktails to decorations. I enjoy a good cocktail. I do find her fairly annoying and I could care less about her niece and nephews.

LOL!
I've often wondered that. It seems like "cocktail time!" is her favorite part of the show.
I do like her ides, though. I know she cannot be compared with chefs like Emeril, Bobby Flay or Tyler Florence or even a wonderful cook like Paula Deen, but most of us turn to the food network and to their recipes not to make Wolfgang Puck's 3 hour pasta, or Emerils from-scratch-Mole. We need a quick, easy, inexpensive, delicious yummy uidea for dinner with our families. I think Sandra Lee does just that.
And, BTW, Ina Garten... not a chef also, although one of my favorite food network characters.
If you ask me, I prefer Sandra Lee to Rachel Ray. That one's so perky, she makes me want to puke.

My daughter can't stand her either (says her peppy-ness drives her crazy), but I do like her viewpoint on cocktails! Ha Ha
