I think it is usually just a matter of filing some papers at your local courthouse. You would then need to change your name on any bills you have or companies you do business with. good luck!

You can always change your name, first, middle, subsequent names, surname, whatever. How depends upon your jurisdiction. Usually a person needs to see an attorney; sometimes it is just a case of going to the courthouse, or whereever, filling out the forms, paying the appropriate fees, and Presto! chango namo!
Don't forget all the possible consequences, as with the draft board, post office, Social Security, etc., etc, etc., plus banks or any place you have an account.
It can be dauntless...

Generally yes. Check with your local county courthouse for forms for completing a name change.

Procedures vary by state, province, etc., but it's not a complicated process.

You are presumably inthe United States. The legal age is 18. You can legally change your name.

If you're Canadian: http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/name-change/how-to.html

If you're American:

If you are not either, I can't help ya. ^_~

However, you should know...that once you're an adult, you can do whatever you want, as far as names go. You can either adopt a last name and go by that, or have it legally done. Either way, make sure to have your name changed on your SS card, driver's lisence, etc.

You cannot change your name is you have any fradulant charges on your record, just to note.
