Ironically, so is my candy coated world. But, the real world is coated only in a rapidly deteriorating Ozone layer. Basic nature, both human and animalistic, prevents our candy coated world from existing. Don't just blame governments and individuals. Even in the Dark Ages, when everyone WAS free to live as they pleased, basic human greed dictated and people strived to set up their own empire and make themselves leader of "their" land.
What can we do as wishful dreamers? Treat others as we want to be treated and HOPE that they return the gesture.

Fantasy is a great place to live. Unfortunatly thats not the real world. Personally I think thats why there is so much drinking and drugging and all the rest because reality sucks. Life's not fair, nothing is free, and a whole host of things we've beleived that just isn't so. There's no knight in shining armour, there's no happy ever after ....there is no perfection. It's a dream....a fantasy.....it's something to help us strive for better and gives us hope and creativity and options........but it's not real. Some are lucky to experience it through a part of their life or maybe just perfect moments here and there.
Even you add "within reason". It's fine when it's what you want but not so good when it's reversed and someone wants what you have.
Every person on this planet isn't nice. There is true evil in the world and not everybody has good honest intentions or cares a hoot about anyone but themselves.
We wouldn't need laws and borders or anything else if people were all good and respectful and life was fair ..... but it's not. Gonna get alot further dealing with what is, instead of what we wish it was, or how it should be.......

You seem to have a fascination with dog urine.
In a perfect world there are no borders and no ill will towards others. Unfortunately we do not live in that time, but one can dream. Not everybody that is crossing our border are simply looking for the American dream.
By the way you walk into my house without my permission you will be taking your own life into your hands. Within reason is subject to the whims of the person entering without my permission.

You may think people should be able too. Try walking into a Middle east border and Latin American border to see how far you get and how many rights you have.

I can't help but comment that even you ended your comment with "within reason". Well there are many good and valid reasons why your world cannot exist.

Well, there are territories which have been drawn up for protection. You don't cross on other's territory or else you will be breaking the law, and will be arrested...how hard is that to understand?

who defines 'within reason'??
and who enforces it??
***
The natives of KSA have decided that 'within reason' means that they may exclude all non-Muslims. You can't walk there at all without their specific invite, or you'll be arrested or worse.
In fact, every nation asserts it has the same right within its territory.
and if you dislike it ... tough.

You allow anybody to walk through your yard and your house huh??
You're a strange one...
P.S.
Every country has immigration laws.
Every country enforces them.
This is not a candy coated world.
