Smell it.
If you got your chicken from a good source, it was thorough washed before it was sold to you, and it was kept at near-freezing temperatures all that time.
If you got your chicken from a poor source, it was soaked in fecal stew before it was packaged, and it was kept at temperatures barely below 40F - or possibly warmer than 40F - during that time.
I assume you defrosted the chicken by moving it into the refrigerator, not by leaving it out at room temperature, or defrosting it in the microwave.
The first chicken should still be OK, but I'd still do an especially-good job of washing it before use. The second chicken should be discarded. In fact, you probably don't want to buy any more chicken like that.

Once you freeze an item the expiration date no longer holds thru. Chicken that is frozen, up to 4 months, would have an expired date, but it is fine to eat. After defrosting count on 4-5 days of good shelf life and probably beyond.
Open it up and if it's not slimy or smelly than its OK. Use it today .

I have a rule of no more than 3 days for uncooked meat and 4 (which is pushing it!) for cooked. Yep, toss the stuff!

Depends upon how well your grocery store handled it before it was frozen.
Take it out and give it a huge whiff. If you smell ANY off scents, pitch it. If you smell, well, NOTHING, cook it today!
And dont' do that again!
