I believe that 10% of mental problems are caused by bad chemistry in one's blood. But 90% of mental illness is caused by terrible parenting.

Any hitting, yelling, pushing and shaming one's own children leaves a terrible scar on a child's ability to have a normal and healthy outlook on life.

If you ever have watched a litter of puppies grow up you might notice that in a litter of 8, one may be naturally reserved and be shy and less involved in what is going on. And perhaps two will be really curious and be first to explore something new and out of the ordinary. The rest will fall somewhere between.

BUT, if the people who are taking care of these puppies are loud and agressive and smak any puppy that pees where they don't want it, then your puppies will all be ruined, and afraid of people their entire lives.

abuse, neglect, all sorts of things, but it really boils down to a lack of self confidence

Then that leads to what causes a lack of self confidence....the list is endless. Don't tell Tom Cruise, but there are also chemicals in the brain that get out of whack also that causes emotional instability.
