I think that you take this answer to the extreme. I believe that atheists can live a good life and be respected in the community when they live the way they want. I think that all of us have the knowledge of what is good and what is bad. It is just atheists do not accept Gd's standards of the Moral Law. They believe they do not need a Savior. We Christians accept the Savior and we know that all of us are help accountable before eternity starts.

Atheism doesn't teach you anything, as it isn't something that is taught. As for why we aren't out running wild like a bunch of religious savages, we actually respect the law of the land. Our society holds us accountable to those laws, as we hold ourselves accountable as well.
What, do chrisitans think that they are above the laws of the land because they have "the word of God"? Did they forget that the laws of the land hold it's inhabitants accountable? God won't save them from prison time for breaking the laws of the land, ask Michael Vick if you need proof. You run afoul of the law and your ONLY savior will be a good defense attorney.

It's just that some people can't imagine having any other source of ethics than their religion. Take it away and they can't understand that anything else could be there. Like judgment, empathy, and an understanding that there are punishments for breaking the law.
Will there be orange sauce with that canard?

Yes, there are A LOT of people who believe that. I was surprised to find that even some of my own friends (whom I thought had better understanding of things than that!) who believed this as well.
Maybe the 14% are so damn good they just never get caught? Or... it's the MEDIA! They're covering it up so they can blame it on us Theists later!! That's it!
It's surprising just how blind people really are when it comes to things like this. If they aren't blind, then they are liars...

Because we know that even if we aren't actually held accountable by some 'god', we will be held accountable by the police. And we have morals and we know right from wrong just like most everyone else.
This is kind of like asking why not every Christian is on a killing spree if they believe they are killing in the name of god?

That's not what I learned in Atheism Seminary.
I'm just laughing at the idea of atheism teaching something. Now if you excuse me, I have to buy some more albums for the stamps I don't collect.

I live my life with heart and consideration for all my fellow humans without fearing the repercussions of some evil, imaginary friend.

IT is why I force young woman to get artifically inseminated and then abort after 8 months. It is why I steal from the rich and the poor. It is why I deal in black market organs which I have infected with AIDS. It is why I deal black tar heroin to 11 year old kids. It is why I sodomize old men, No accountability rulez!!!!
