There is a bit of confusion about this, some people think that when analogue is switched off you have to get HD ready TVs - you don't. All you need is Freeview, Sky or cable. So this means that your TV will work fine. If you want to get HD programmes you will need a HD set, but if you just want normal TV you're existing set is fine.

(Answer assuming you are in the USA)

Sounds like you are getting bad advice.

I'm not sure what you mean by "internal digi box". I can't think of any TV in current use that can not be used to receive digital programing. If the TV only has an analog (NTSC) tuner, then you will need a converter box to receive over the air TV signals. Starting in Jan 2008, these will be about $20 (after government coupon).

Some of the other answers refer to "Freeview " & "Sky". I think those are systems used in the UK, so they don't mean anything to someone in the US.

It already is digital isn't it? It has the digi box inside. People with analogue tv's will just have to buy a Freeview box to continue watching tv.

If you are saying you want HD and your tv is not already HD ready that is a different matter.

If you have a digi box it will work not a problem. Hd is something different and if you go for example sky hd then you will need an Hd television to benefit.

HD (High Definition) is something different. If it's got digi built in, you can receive digi channels.

If you want to receive and watch HD programmes, you need HD ready equipment. You watch HD DVD films, your TV and DVD player have to be HD ready.

If your on cable or satellite this will not affect you. This will affect you only if your using an outdoor antennae because stations will stop transmitting analog signals over the air. That's it. Simple as that.
