Go to GUNSAMERICAN and Gunbroker.com and see what like models are listed for sale at. Shave 25 to 50 off the asking price for a rule of thumb here and now price. I bought a 686 stainless 6" with a holster last month for 275.00. He wanted 300 but a handful of green swayed him a teensy bit. They are a very good revolver and you should really keep it.

I paid a little under $400 for a 4" 686 police trade-in a couple of years ago. There's not a lot of price movement on "non-collectible" used guns over time, so I'd guess somewhere around $450... You might look at the auction sites gunbroker.com and auctionarms.com and see what they've sold for recently.

I carried the identical revolver on duty for about 2 years. I really like the L frame. Revolver prices are down somewhat right now. Everybody is on the pistol craze. You have a very good revolver. I'd keep it if it was me. I used mine on duty and also hunted medium sized game with it. I also killed a decent sized black bear with one, and used it many times to finish off a road kill or wounded animal.

When it comes to selling it is hard to get an asking price. Try asking for $400 and see if you can get $350 or so. If it is 'like new in box' you might try asking for a bit more but realistically you should be able to get between $250 to $350 for it.

That is one of my all-time favorite guns. I own one myself with a 4 inch barrel. They are great guns. You could probably get $500-$550 for it.

If it's in fairly good shape, don't take anything less than $350.00
