What would you say if the child that was going to be born was not going to be brought up in the way of the Lord, which would mean that the child would probably not go to Heaven and would have a horrible life due to the lifestyle of the child's parents? It is a sin to murder an unborn child and it is also a sin to bring a child into this world and not bring that child upin the way of the Lord. If the child is killed in the womb it will go straight to Heaven. Either way the God will hold the parents responsible for the child's life. Your opinions please?

The bible says it's a sin to murder. So abortion is therefore wrong.
The parents are only responsible for how the child is brought up, not for how the child's life ends up on a whole. That's because many children who are born into non-Christian homes can still very well grow up and end up becoming Pastors (my mother for instance) Evangelists, ministers and so on. Half of my family did not grow up in Christian homes, yet most of them are all saved today.
Yes it should be the parents' job to raise a child in the way that he should go. But it's not always the case. Some kids aren't even born with parents. But it's no-ones job to take another person's life because no one here is in charge of life. It's even a sin to take your own life. And no one knows who's going to Heaven but God, so no one has the right to take a child's life because they "may" not go to heaven based on the way their parents live. Because that "may not" be the case. You don't know what path that person will eventually decide to take when they grow up and leave their parents house. But the parents are not accountable for that child's decisions when they become of age to make their own. They are responsible for the leadership in the growing years. Not for the decisions the child makes throughout their entire life. They'll be judged based on what they do as parents. That's the extent of that.

There is never any justification for killing another person.

Even if you knew for certain that the child would not be brought up in the way of the Lord or live a horrible life due to the lifestyle of the parents, you are denying that person the possibility of knowing the Lord in this life and doing something to make this world a better place.

I think it is a GREATER sin to kill an unborn child than to not bring the child up in the way of the Lord. The second sin can be overcome by the person being harmed. The first cannot.

txwoman...if a person had a gun to your head and was threatening to kill you, should i just walk away because the incident is strictly between you and the person who is threatening to kill you?

Murder is always wrong and never justifiable.

I'm the baby that you speak of. My parents raised me atheist. I grew up with no knowledge of God (other than it being a word you say when you're really, really ticked off). I grew up with no knowledge of the Bible and only infrequent visits to church (for funerals and weddings).

I became a Christian shortly before my 25th birthday. Yes, much to my parents' chagrin, although my mom is starting to feel the need for a God now that she's in her 70s.

All this to say, it's not impossible for a person raised atheist to ever become a Christian. So your whole argument is based on a unsubstantiated assumption. And I can't even agree with you that "it's also a sin to bring a child into this world and not bring that child up in the way of the Lord" in every case. It would be a sin for ME not to teach my children about the Lord because I know the Lord exists and I'm responsible for teaching my children truth. But my parents didn't know God was true when I was a kid, so they didn't have that responsibility, and therefore were not committing a sin. They just didn't know any better.

*Not a christian but very familiar with the bible* Abortion would be the sin of the person doing the abortion and whoever was having it done. Bringing up a child without the Lord doesn't necessarily mean that the child will never be *saved*. Once the child reaches the age of understanding and comes in contact with the *word* then he/she will be responsible for their own actions and can no longer blame their parents. Killing someone to save them is a very delusional idea and is often shared by the criminally insane and drug abusers.

Please point me to the passage in Scripture that says that babies get to go to heaven. I'll wait.

Catholic tradition notwithstanding, the Bible never talks about an age of accountability. It does say that man is born sinful, that all have sinned, that the result of sin is death, and the Jesus Christ is the only method by which man can be saved.

Murder is wrong. Raising a child in sin is also wrong. But murder is irreversible, but raising is not. Everyone has a choice and can choose to believe or not believe. You lose that choice when you never see the light of day.

You have a very good point - but I have to ask - Who but God can choose life or death? It is His job and when humans do it - they are putting themselves up as God.

One other question: A mother has a couple of children and her and her husband decide to have a third - for the next 5 to 8 years the woman gets pregnant and has miss-carriages - now the doctor tells her she is pregnant again - do you have the doctor go ahead and perform an abortion because of the womans track record? or do you let her continue to carry the Baby?

Well - if you chose to have the doctor perform the abortion - you just killed Albert Einstein - God is the only one that should play God.

A child is born innocent. when it gets older it is the childs responsibility to choose it's path. all the parents can do is rais it the best they can. God won't hold the parents responsible for the childs life, the lord is forgiving.

Sorry this question is not logical.

Just because a child is born to unbelievers does not mean the Lord wouldn't find a way to save His elect!

I was born to unbelievers and He saved me!

My husband was supposed to be abort in the middle east but the doctor told her to come back in 9 months and he would take it out then. 20 plus yeas later the Lord saved her, her husband and 2 of her 3 sons. All catholics!

Remember the true God is not in a box that people open every now and then.

Wow.

OK, I will start by saying that you obviously do not think that anyone but Christians should be allowed to have children. I can't begin to say how messed up that is.

Secondly, I am a pro-choice Christian. I have several reason for this, but the most prevalent one is that a women who is forced to carry through with an unwanted pregnancy is more than likely not going to take care of herself. Have you ever seen a crack or alcohol addicted baby? I have. They go through unbelievable torment as infants, as do the adoptive or foster parents that are left with the responsibility of raising them. They cry in agony non-stop for the first 9 months, and some of them longer. Of course, this doesn't stop with infancy; the problems continue throughout the lifetime of these children. Please note that I said "torment", because that is exactly what it is.

How far would you go with this? What do you think should be done to stop people who are not Christian from having children? Would you want it outlawed?

Honestly, as a Christian, these rigid beliefs scare me. Trust me, you aren't getting anyone to see Christianity as a good thing when you post this kind of stuff.

Atheists, Muslims, Agnostics, Buddhist, or any other belief system have the rights granted in the Constitution. why shouldn't they? They pay taxes too. Please try to stop seeing those who are not Christian as some kind of insect that needs to be exterminated. It really is quite unbecoming.

my mother was not "brought up in the way of the Lord". She came from a terribly abusive, non-religious home. But she found God after she moved out (at age 15). She's been very religious ever since.

You cannot predict how people will live their lives. you cannot predict that the parents will not change their ways. You cannot predict that that child will not one day find God on their own. "Judge not, that ye be not judged." Matt. 7:1

Abortion is a sin unless the mother's life is at risk or she is a victim of rape or incest.
