love the sinner, hate the sin comes to my mind... I think many believe shaming is a loving act. Shaming might save someone from themself. Is it okay to shame an alcoholic or a drug addict? Is it okay to shame a fat person? What do you think about this?

No, I see no benefit from shaming a person. As a matter of fact, I think it's quite cruel to shame someone who has a problem. I bet 9 times out of 10 it further hurts the person because if they are not mentally handicapped in some way, I bet they already feel bad or shameful about themselves. Love, acceptance and understanding help people, not condemnation.

If someone is truly out of control, then in some cases shame may be the only way to make them aware of their behavior... but I would see it as a measure of last resort, something only to be used in desperation.

I think whether or not it's okay depends very much on the specifics of the situation. I have been in a situation where it was the only option left to me to let someone know their highly abusive behavior was not okay.

I honestly don't see anythin to do with love being in Christianity, hun, I'm sorry.

A religion that teaches that causing your own child to be tortured is an act of love is the furthest thing from an authority on love.

I think Christians are very adept at finding any manner of ways to explain away the illogical dichotomies of their belief. I just ignore them.
