-2.00 is nothing exceptional

It certainly means you need a correction to be legal driving.

There is no exact match between the strength of an Rx: -1.00, -2.00, and how far down a chart you can see: 20/20, 20/60...
It depends very much on pupil size.

With an average pupils -2.00DS would give about 20/80

But the effect would be worse at night with big pupils and if, without prescription, you look through a 1mm pinhole in a card held close to your eye, your sight will suddenly be "magically" better. Maybe 20/25!

It depends on your ablity to distinguish the letters on the chart some people are better at it than others. If you squint you may get 20/60 to 20/80. Without squinting you may get 20/100 to 20/200. That is distnance vision. Your up close vision will be 20/20 if you do not have much astigmatism. The optometry student it very well on wqhat these numbers mean. A -2.00 is good for you later in life 50-60's years of age. It will allow you read comfortably without glasses while your counterparts will need bifocals.

That means that you are Myopic or "near sighted." That is in a nut shell because if I went into the whole explanation I would have to teach you optics.

On a scale copmparison to 20/20 you are equivalent to a person who sees 20/120 and that is if you don't have astigmatism. This means that what you are able to see at 20 feet is what an average person would be able to see at 120 feet roughly.

I hope this helps.
