As a travel agent I have found the best prices for clients is for them to book their own flights through Travelocity or one of the other sites. Or often the better prices can be found searching the individual airlines themselves. You can find the best prices after midnight PST and before 7 EST on a midweek morning. The airlines have placed their cancellations back on the sites by that time and there are often better prices. You can occasionally get a deal on Price line by making an offer rather than accepting the stated prices (they are affiliated with Travelocity). Another possibility is people who have too many free flight vouchers often offer them for sale in the local papers.

Travelocity and Expedia sometimes offer cheap flights. Plus I dont know if Spirit Airlines flies to either of those locations, but if you get on their mailing list they will send you cheap fares all the time.
