Well, go to the doctor if you haven't already. It could be a severe medical problem, though in that case if it has been going on for 8 years, you would probably have been dead already. It could also be depression, which causes migraines. Otherwise, light sensitivity or daily stress.

For light sensitivity, be like Jack and wear sunglasses everywhere. Daily stress can be worked with through exercise, meditation, and eating healthier. Depression you need a doctor for.

Surf the net. There are a lot of health tips on sites like http://www.webmd.com/migraines-headaches/default.htm

With that said, killing yourself would solve the problem, though it has side affects, including death.

Good luck finding help.

Been there, migraines are hideously evil things!!! What is the reason for the migraines? Did you have a car accident or something that caused this ailment and you need to have your body realigned? Do you over stress about life? Have you spoken with a doctor because there are some very good meds out there now that will take care of a migraine in about 20 minutes and then you can continue to search for the root cause of your problem and eliminate it via alternative methods. Again I would suggest the use of EFT [Emotional Freedom Technique] because it's something that's easy to learn and you can self apply anytime, anywhere.

For more info on EFT visit www.ahealingmind.com for diagrams, etc.

Man! So many folk remedies. Try them all.

I use Maxault. I swallow the pill, the migraine is in control in 15-20 mins. I haven't had a debilitating migraine for years now, even though I had them regularly before.

In my worst pain, I had my daughter take my hand and stretch it, tickle it, scratch it, etc. I focused on my hand instead of my head because I've heard that the brain can only focus on one strong signal at a time.

I have access to some Chinese remedies, e-mail if you're interested. Have you tried acupuncture? Have you taken Chinese herbs bought from a licensed herbalist? I have more ideas if you need them.

Don't kill yourself. Just keep trying this kind of therapy or that, but killing yourself is not the answer. I know what kind of pain you are experiencing and I've had it for long periods of time, and thought about suicide just to escape the pain. The pain is excruciating, but you will live through it.

I assume you've been to the dr.s, neurologists, had MRI, CAT, etc. Time to look for new answers.

I pray that you find the end to your pain, and that God will be able to use you to help others with extreme chronic pain.

See a neurologist. There are various meds, some you take at onset, others you take all the time as preventives. The ndoc may refer you for tests like an CT scan or MRI to rule out other problems. S/he may also refer you for a sleep study and/or to a head ache clinic. In any case, there are effective medications. You just have to go to the right doctor to get them and be willing to try others if the first one doesn't do it for you. Equally as important is recognizing what triggers your migraines and structuring your life to minimize occurances. For some, therapy can be beneficial as well as the meds. PS - aspirin and caffeine are quick fixes that cause rebound headaches. Pain killers have their own set of problems. For these reasons, seeing a ndoc for appropriate meds is a much better move.

How old are you now? How have have you had them? I suffered from so called migraines for 12 years. I went to sleep with them, awoke with them, they never went away. I had MRI's done but no abnormalities were ever discovered. I was treated with every possible medication with no relief. At age 37 I had a massive stroke that almost ended my life. The headaches were the signs that I had a tangled mass of veins growing inside my left cerebellum that suddenly ruptured. It was a birth defect. I think you should take your headache seriously and talk to a neurologist about them. What I had was called an AVM (arteriovenous malformation).

Doctors can give you medicine for this. Doctor must make sure that you do have "Migrain Headache" Only.

Most doctor know of few such prescription drugs on the market. If they work after few trials, they are very effective and long lasting.

So see a nuerologist, they are expensive by any standard, about $21.00 (USA) per pill.

Try this -- it cannot hurt.

I think that some of these problems are caused by sinus problems. Try to sleep with one or two soft blankets wrapped around your head, your ears, down over your eyes until the tip of your nose but not covering it usually.

( when having a stuffed nose, cover it with one light layer of blanket that permits breathing and the heating of the air)

Also, use a soft towel for a muffler. Try this for a few days when you sleep. If it doesn't work you can easily discontinue, but I myself use it and it works for me.
