I go in to check on her during the night and she is completely naked (just the two of us live together).

I put her clothes back on.....go back and check on her later....and ALL her clothes are back off. Why does she do this?

Perhaps she is uncomfortable or hot?

I would say although I am sure it is surprising to find her that way, it is really no big deal. As long as she is in her own room and as you say you two live alone, then I see no harm in it.

Maybe this is just how she prefers to sleep?

My 2 year old duaghter does this too, just it is all day and all night, I can never seem to get her to keep close on. So I know where you are coming from. It is just a comfort thing, some toddlers just like being naked, it is a phase, it will pass. Also toddlers have no idea that being naked is something that soceity frowns upon, if you are uncomfortable with this I would just wait until she is old enough to understand society norms. For right now, just let her be a completly oblivius innocent kid. If it is just the two of you how cares if she is naked, you give her baths and see it all the time.

Why is there a problem with what she's doing? At two years old, she doesn't grasp the implication of any perceived impropriety that your complex adult thinking does. All she knows is that she's more comfortable sleeping nude; she doesn't care about anything else.

It's perfectly possible she may change her mind how she likes to sleep when she gets older, or she may continue her choice, in which case all you need to do is teach her to keep a robe by her bed that she can throw on in an emergency or if someone comes in (and she will want some privacy anyway once she gets old enough to understand the concept).

I see no reason to force anyone to wear clothes in the privacy of their own bed if they don't want to. Some people just like it better.

Is it warm? is her room humid?

it's important to remember that to a 2 year old there is no such thing as impropriety or inappropriate behaviour, and nudity carries no negative or sexual connotations the way it does later in life.

If a 2 year old is taking off all of her clothes it is likely that they are making her uncomfortable in some way. Maybe they are itchy, maybe they are too warm, maybe you sleep in the nude and she is mimicing your behaviour (though this is more common amongst children 3+).

Try putting her in clothes made of a different fabric or leaving a fan (or thermostat) to keep her room cooler, think about why you would sleep in the nude if you were on your own and test the possible solutions to help her find her comfort zone and she should start sleeping in whatever she is wearing.

good luck

It's a body heat thing. I am 34 and have slept nearly nude my whole life because my body temp rises when I sleep, but it is totally normal in some folks. My father and several of his siblings are the same way. My wife calls me "the furnace", which means I get snuggled in winter and pushed out of bed in summer. :)

If you want her to stay clothed, get her some really thin, lightweight garments that breath well. Also try sheets that aren't as thick/insulative. I often sleep under just the flat sheet and throw the comforter off, which also annoys the wife. :)

It could be as simple as she is getting hot during the night. Try not putting her in much before she goes to bed, maybe just a t-shirt and underware. Maybe she just doesn't like the feel of clothes when she is sleeping, if she tosses and turns alot they could be bunching up on her and making her uncomfortable. Try getting her some new pajamas that are loose and easy to move in. If she's getting hot maybe try putting a fan on her when she sleeps and see if that helps.

She must feel more comfortable this way. Sounds kinda funny, but I have a 2 year old nice, she likes to sleep in just her diaper. She gets hot, I think.

I only sleep in a t-shirt or singlet. Everything else like pajamas and the like get all twisted and uncomfortable. Maybe your little one has the same problem?

Or as everyone else has been saying, is she getting too hot?

Buy her comfortable clothes or crack her window so she can get some air (if it's cool outside), maybe she needs a fan in her room

Try putting a ceiling fan in her room or maybe even a regular fan to move the air. also try dressing her in lighter fabrics. I f all else fails, ask her why...lol!
