I have a friend like that. There's nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, you're probably lucky. No sense trying to condition your body to handle tons of alcohol which isn't all that great for it anyway.
But I know what you mean, when the party starts going, you want to keep up. Social pressure I guess...
He eats a decent sized meal, somewhat on the carb side ahead of time.
He paces himself.
He always drinks lower alcohol beers, like regular Coors Light or Bud. Craft brews have more alcohol.
I've seen him quietly ask for a Kaliber, or other non-alcoholic beer in a glass. He'll start with that, and no one seems to notice.
He sometimes will dump a little out now and then, and/or just hang on to the same bottle for a long time. When the next order comes, he peers into the bottle and says "I'm still nursing this one..."

Milk Thistle tablets. You get them from health food shops (don't know what country you're in but I'm in the UK).
Take a couple in the afternoon, then another couple in the evening before you drink. They increase your liver function making it more efficient, therefore the booze doesn't go to your head as badly because your liver's getting cleaned out faster. You also get a very reduced hangover or no hangover the next day.
They are also good for general liver cleansing. I swear by 'em :-)

Oh that I had that problem!
I would just say to pace yourself or drink beer with less alcohol in it.
