Yes. There are some Christian fundamentalists who believe exactly that. This is why they have spent over ONE BILLION DOLLARS in the last decade to specifically target and evangelise the Jews.

Namely, the Baptists believe this. The belief is that until the Jews convert, WE are holding up the Second Coming.

Yes, really. I've been involved in the Jewish antimissionary movement for almost a decade, and I speak from experience here.

"Messianic Judaism", which is actually a Christian fundamentalist movement begun by the Baptists, is one example of that. It is Christians in Jewish drag, who dress like Jews, do up their churches to look like synagogues, cook Jewish food in their church kitchens, etc. all in an attempt to lure in uneducated Jews. And they do, unfortunately.

The replies you've received on here show that most people are pretty clueless about all of this. I suggest that they investigate it themselves. Not being the continual target of these evangelists, it's not surprising that they're unaware of this doctrine, but still - educate yourselves about it at least.

EDIT: I should add that it's not JUST the Baptists who believe this and target Jews for evangelism because of it, there are others as well, but it's the Baptists who spend the billions and billions of dollars to accomplish this doctrine of "until the Jews convert, Jesus won't come back".

As for Christians being the largest non-Jewish supporters of Israel these days, yes that's true. HOWEVER, this support comes with a huge pricetag. Once again, the motivation and belief is that Jesus will return, and then all the Jews will see and recognise him as the true messiah and we will all convert to Christianity.

So we accept Christian support and lose our souls? I don't think so, no thanks. We don't need anyone's support except our Creator's.

So, it's really the same thing in the end, it's just for the rest of the Christians, the Jews will all convert on their own "after Jesus returns" - whereas for the (mainly) Baptists, Jesus cannot return in the first place until the Jews all convert.

That's not really the Christian viewpoint. Saving of souls is between the individual and God so Christians don't really have the power to save your souls. And there really isn't any prophecy that Christians will take over your land - whatever that means.

There is some mention in the New Testament about the construction of a new temple in Jerusalem though.

My understanding is that they have to work at getting us to 'see the path and go to Jesus'. Some sects go so far as to say that until they manage that, Jesus cannot return, making it imperative that they have to convert us! (Yeah- thats why some of the missionaries are so pushy and obnoxious- according to them, as long as Jews are around that haven't accepted Jesus, he won't come back.)

And a note for everyone here that is completely ignorant of Jewish history:
The FIRST temple wa sbuilt by Solomon and destroyed by the Babylonians
The SECOND Temple was a very modest affair and was built by Ezra the scribe and Nechemya
The SECOND Temple was refurbished to the glory it had enjoyed in the First Temple days by Herod who was trying to get the nation to like him (it didn't work- he was seen as an usurper that had murdered the royal family in collusion with the Romans to steal the throne and was always hated by the populace.) The Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans
The THIRD temple will be in the days of Mashiach

Not at all, but he will give you every chance he can. What happens is in his hands, not ours. We do and will continue to pray for you, and for the peace of Jerusalem. As far as taking your land, I'm not sure what you are talking about, I don't think you will find stronger supporters of a COMPLETE and free Israel than the American Christians. The last I read they where the only reason that the government has not caved in and agreed with the Arab nations to split up Jerusalem and give away even more of the land that God promised to your people so long ago. You ask this question with spite and anger and I don't understand that, but what ever. I can tell you this, like it or not, the American Christian Church is responsible for "saving" countless Jewish families from certain death in Russia, Europe, and Asia, by giving of their own money to help relocate these families out of the places that sought to butcher them back to their homeland, if you are angry over that, then so be it.

God will come for His people in His time. If you reject Christ that isn't our fault nor God's. Take your land? Why would we do that? The USA is about the only ally you have in the world. And why? Because the Christian of American are on your side! We recognize the promise that Abraham was given as to the Land. Your 3rd Temple, why build it at all? None of you, according to Esra, has the right to the Priesthood. You must be reckoned to the priesthood by genealogy if not you may not hold it.

Ezra 2:52
These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

Without the priesthood what need is there for a temple? Just piss off Israels enemies and cause another war? I personal don't worry about the return of my Lord, I just try to follow Him now... Jim

1. Jesus will return when God the Father allows him to.
2. God saves souls; not people.
3. Despite the addition to God's word; the Lord (not lord) from Genesis-Malachi (I currently believe the Jewish 'Bible' hasa different order) was the Lord Jesus Christ (Jehovah, YHWH same being).
4. Messiah and Christ mean the same thing.

Jesus will return as expected after all the nations that attack Jerusalem stated in Zechariah 14. Israel as a country will then recognize 'he whom they pierced' :
10 "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son."
(Zechariah 12)

What you don't realize - amongst other things, is that we who know this see you as our brethren. And we eagerly await the Jews welcoming of Him. I really do. We are bound for fellowship. We will live with Him forever together.

I understand that the Jews don't believe now, it was a part of prophecy. But I in no way believe that man will do it, God does it. They wanted the "Day of Vengeance" (Isaiah 61:2), and that's when they will know.

Each person has to save themselves by accepting Jesus as the Messiah and living their lives in accord with his teachings.

As 2 Pet 3: 9 brings out "Jehovah is not slow respecting his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with your because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance."

A third temple will not be built in Jerusalem. It was completely destroyed in 70 C.E.. As Matt. 23: 37 & 38 Jesus said "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the killer of the prophets and stoner of those sent forth to her, ..how often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks together under her wings! But you people did not want it. Look! Your house is abandoned to you."

The covenant relationship was broken when the Jews of Jesus time did not accept him as the promised Messiah. There is now a heavenly Jerusalem and spiritual Israel.
As Rom 2:28 & 29 "He is not a Jew who is one on the outside, nor is circumcision tht which is on the outside upon the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one on the inside, and his circumcision is that of the heart by spirit, and not by a written code." Rom. 9:6 "Not all who spring from Israel are really Israel."

He will come back after the anti-christ takes over the world and the money system and enslaves everyone and puts a computer chip in all of us so he can keep track of everyone and darkness is on the earth after he starts the third world war.

Being Jewish, I take great umbrage to your comments.

It is God who saves, not people.

Israel could not have retaken Zion without the aid and help of foreigners.

God will not permit Israel to build a third temple. Israel as a whole continually violated the o.c. and paid the price as stated in the o.c.

Israel remains to this day to be collectively a rebellious and stiff necked people.

When Israel learns to quit blaming other people for their problems, and accepts responsibility for their actions, then progress will be made.

But if Psalms 44 is any indication, that isn't going to happen.

Verse 17 is the lie of Israel. They did violate the covenant, continually, but are in denial to this day.
