I believe that in order to ask the best possible question, one is forced to expand on may things. I for instance always enjoy describing the current weather conditions as the first part of asking a question here. An example of this would be something like this.
Before I get to the real question, I want you to know that it is really a beautiful day outside. The sun is shining and birds are singing. Really a day to be inspired by. Then my quesiton would follow.......
I also like to expand on my great intellect by saying such things as," I already know the answer to this question because I am really smart but just to verify the answer I want to go ahead and ask....... I also enjoy editing the question once it has been posted. I like to say things like, "Good answer Jdog223 I really identify with you so much" or "Mary221 you are out of your head" I really believe it is necessary to have this type of banter.
Answers however should never be long drawn out things. I believe with all of my heart that answers should be limited to two sentences at most. Anyone who goes beyond this limit would be removed from the answers section from Yahoo. I think people give long answers because they do not have a life, and are really lame. I also like when people have to write a line or two below their answer to help explain their answer. Hope this helps.
by the way, the above answer is really a joke and not to be taken as offensive. It was ment to give a bit of humor to the world.

Personally, I like the mixture on Yahoo Answers of long and short questions. Some questions simply do require more background information in order for a person to provide a detailed and accurate answer. If someone is put off or has trouble understanding a longer question, they always have the option of not answering that question and moving on to the next question. What annoys me is when people choose to answer long questions without reading all of the details.

Usually, I don't have the patience to read long questions. However, if the person is very clear with correct spelling and good grammar, I may be enticed to read the question. Especially if the question appears to interesting and intelligent.

If the reader wants a serious answer to the question, then they should be willing to read the answers no matter how long they are.

I hear ya, we don't need background information, just ask the question and move on, skip the foreplay!

Actually, I'd rather answer a question like that. It gives me plenty of details and allows me to answer the question better.

Many people don't come here to ask questions, but to hear themselves talk.
